Job Summary
Teach first- and second-year Spanish courses and/or our Latin American Studies course, which involves culture, history, and sociopolitical topics in Hispanic and Lusophone countries on the American continent. Our courses are taught through a decolonial lens. Our language courses are flipped, OER , communicative, task- and discussion-based, and apply career readiness. Some knowledge of gender-neutral language in Spanish is expected.
First- and second-year Spanish are offered in three formats: hybrid (classroom conversation/online cultural assignments), livestream (i.e., synchronous online/Zoom), and online (asynchronous/fully online). We are particularly interested in candidates who can teach two modalities. Candidates who are hired will be expected to complete a paid 10-hour self-paced online pedagogy training within the first month. For those interested in learning more about online and livestream teaching, the college offers paid training through the Faculty Development office.

Essential Responsibilities And Duties
- Become familiar with and abide by all college policies with immediate priority given to those policies that govern interactions with colleagues, staff, administrators, and departments throughout the organization.
- Maintain professional etiquette in communications with students, staff, faculty, and administrators.
- Provide appropriate and timely feedback for all assignments.
- Return graded assignments in a timely fashion per department standards.
- Maintain student attendance records (for Financial Aid purposes) and grades.
- Conduct a variety of appropriate evaluations of student performance.
- Inform students of progress-to-date periodically and assigns and submits grades by published deadlines.
- Assist in maintaining a safe and mutually respectful instructional environment.
- Prepare and submit incident reports to Dean of Student Services for inappropriate student behavior as defined by the Code of Student Rights and Responsibilities Policy.
- Maintain professional and collegial behavior.
- Handle/respond to student concerns/complaints, and responds to student communications and inquiries promptly (generally within 1‐2 days).
- Maintain professional appearance as defined by the discipline and/or College procedure.
- Complete all required employee trainings.
- Know and enforce FERPA guidelines.
- Provide ADA accommodations as requested.
- Other job-related duties as needed.

- Ability to communicate effectively with a broad range of diverse people, culture, ethnic background, and abilities, to maintain good working relationships across the College.
