Lead Production Stager

Position Summary/Objective of Job:

The Stager 3 Team Member is the senior-most Staging position on the Staging team. The Stager 3 main function is to ensure that the Staging team is staging the correct ingredients and paper products for Bakery and Spin teams. If the staging isn't done correctly, production will come to a halt. The Stager 3 fulfills their responsibilities by double-checking the Staging teams work and ensuring that they pull the correct things (ingredients/product/paper) at the correct times. The result of a successful Stager 3 is to have everything that is needed for production to run smoothly set up for when the Bake & Spin teams arrive, if the Staging team does their work correctly, the other teams are set up for success.

Essential Functions:

  • Delegate and plan at the beginning of each shift. The Stager 3 assists the Staging Supervisor in mapping out the production plan by reading the work order before production begins. This is a duty that happens at the beginning of the shift and is assessed throughout the day.

  • On a daily basis, the Stager 3 ensures that the equipment is clean and operational for the upcoming shift and that the bakery and spin room are clean. Work with Staging team or delegate to move tables, equipment and ingredients to ensure rooms (production room and bakery) are set up.

  • Uphold compliance with company Good Manufacturing Practices for all Staging Team Members. This involves observing organization and sanitation procedures throughout the shift, and correcting Staging Team Members where appropriate.

  • Direct and support the Staging team. Delegate appropriate projects for shift/day production goals. This involves first confirming with Staging Supervisor which projects have priority or are best sequenced, then delegating to Team Members as they arrive.

  • Check the production schedule for that day and coming days to print all labels for paper products including: tubs, tub lids, and 8 pack cases.

  • Complete the verification form for labels and then distribute to the Staging team to sticker 8 count boxes, tubs and lids. After finishing, verify that the numbers match the production schedule.

  • Train new staff. Direct and assist on-the-job training (and re-training if necessary): show Team Members the best methods to operate effectively: with equipment, different categories of projects, cleanliness and safety, to make the best use of available space and equipment, first in/first out (FIFO) and pulling correct ingredients from dry storage, southside cooler, main freezer, and staging freezer.

  • Reminding and reinforcing new policies or procedures to Team Members.

  • Ongoing communication with the Staging Supervisor. Communication regarding staffing, issues and about all things within the department, including already resolved situations. Escalate problems/issues to appropriate leadership or team.

  • Administration. Compiling and addressing outstanding issues that are inactionable or unresolvable in a daily production shift.

  • Improving production and operation. This involves providing insights, suggestions, and strategies to help improve production efficiency/flow: creating or revising paperwork, trialing optimized processes for familiar projects, discussing more complex issues with management, helping to facilitate a effective space and schedule for teams to achieve better results, proactively identifying areas of opportunity for improved safety and cleanliness standards.

  • Communicating and coordinating with other leadership. This involves checking in with other Team 3s or available chain of command to query or inform them about ongoing problems, production progress, or other pertinent issues.

  • Creatively collaborating with all Staging Team Members to provide and implement solutions to unforeseen problems.

  • Clearly communicate the production goals to the team, update the whiteboard in the staging area with the planned numbers, dates, and items for production on a daily basis. Meet production goals in shift: cleanly, safely, and minimizing wasted time/effort.

  • All product and respective paperwork accounted (or accountable) for.

  • Ensures that the Staging team has timely rest breaks and meal periods.

  • Ensure the Staging team is prepared to cover Spin team breaks. Once the break list is verified as filled out with Spin leadership, Staging team covers the Spin room and Stager 3 ensures there is a smooth crossover for break rotations.

  • Move product to southside cooler for thawing and overseeing downstacking.

  • Lead and oversee ingredient portioning in the bakery to ensure the correct amount of ingredients are staged and ready for Bakers to use.

  • Oversee crossover between Staging and Bakery to make sure no details get missed (ex: ingredient shortages, recipe staging locations, etc.) and that all paperwork is turned in.
