SALVA Mission and Background:
SALVA is a nonprofit dedicated to serving the Latino/a/x and undocumented community in the Antelope Valley. Salva possesses a holistic mission, centered on fomenting education, championing the rights of our migrant community, and sharing the richness of our Latin American culture.
SALVA was founded five years ago and since then has had exponential growth in the services offered and development. Opportunity to for professional growth.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
- Build and/or connect established relationships at the city, county, and state, federal level to expand organizations outreach, and identify funding sources.
- Identify community need and help create events, programs and services that benefit community, secure funding for such programming.
- Collect data to help with grant proposals and community events, be able to conduct research.
- Mange the submission of various grants proposal, meet deadlines, and give the adequate follow-up.
- Update organization's grant calendar and give status report on a monthly basis or directed by executive director.
- Maintain and update databases of outreach, proposals and outcome.
- Discuss program or funding requirements to director to gather and prepare drafts and approval of grant.
- Attend trainings, workshops, and conference held by foundations, funding organizations, or professional development organizations .
- Other duties as assigned related to job description.
Qualifications:
- Desire to help and serve community, commitment to social justice.
- Outgoing and self-driven individual, creative and goal oriented.
- Someone who can work great both individually and in group, if needed be able to delegate tasks related to funding opportunities.
- Comfortable interacting and communicating with community members while keeping in mind the different challenges and barriers they face as multi-layered individuals with intersectionaities.
- Effective time management, great multi-talker, problem solving oriented.
- Strong organizational skills, and demonstrate expository writing skills with exceptional grammar and syntax.
- Being able to work with a diverse team in a fast paced environment.
- Bilingual English/ Spanish (Preferred).
- Computer proficiency in MS Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Google Drive, emails (Required)
Education & Work Experience:
- English major or some college education;
- Extensive work experience in community outreach and grant writing may substitute educational requirement.
- Have experience in grant writing &/or community outreach, being able to secure more funding opportunities or establishing relationships with community partners or agencies,
- Have experience serving marginalized and underserved communities.
