Samson Tug & Barge is seeking an experienced accountant to join us as our corporate controller. This person would join us at our headquarters in the beautiful community of Sitka, Alaska. This is a full time, benefited position that includes opportunities for travel in Alaska. Relocation expenses may be covered.
Job Description: Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, our Controller will assist in the oversight and management of all accounting functions. Preparation of monthly financial statements and related footnotes. Preparation of the year to date cash flow and perform cash projections for management. Assist the CFO in maintaining records for retirement accounts (i.e., 401-K Plan)· Maintenance of fixed asset records and coordinating with Samson’s equipment control group· Implement, document and maintain adequate and effective processes to improve the close and reporting cycles to ensure timely and accurate reporting. Assist accounts payable clerk to ensure accurate and timely production of all financial information. Proper analytical review of the asset operations from a balance sheet, income statement and cash flow perspective as well as an overall business perspective. Any other responsibilities that may be assigned from time to time.
We are converting our financial systems from MS Dynamics Nav and ADP to Multiview and Paylocity. Our new controller will be assisting in this conversion.
Job Requirements / Education: Bachelors in Business Administration with an emphasis in accounting. Minimum of 5 years in the accounting and finance sector. Minimum of 2 years in a position equivalent to a controller or higher responsibilities. Excellent GAAP and financial reporting technical skills. Must have strong computer skills, including a mastery of common word processing, spreadsheet and database applications.
