Director of IT
Job Posting for Director of IT at San Antonio Zoo
Essential Duties
- Oversee technical IT & AV projects in alignment with organizational goals
- Supervise a staff of workers, working closely with management, external vendors and advisors
- Prepare financial budgets and present proposals for capital projects to senior executives
- Analyze the business requirements of all departments to determine their technology needs
- Research and recommend new products
- Purchase efficient and cost-effective technological equipment and software
- Inspect the use of technological equipment and software to ensure functionality and efficiency
- Identify the need for upgrades, configurations or new systems and report to management
- Control budget and report on expenditure
- Assist in building relationships with vendors and creating cost-efficient contracts
- Oversee the operation of server systems
- Identify security vulnerabilities and eliminate them with solutions that increase data safety
- Direct and support implementation of software and hardware upgrades
All other duties as assigned.
Skills/Qualifications
- Passionate and enthusiastic technologist who stays current on emerging software/hardware approaches and trends.
- Be comfortable in a quick moving, and unstructured environment.
- Demonstrates experience in establishing standard processes and managing performance to achieve key goals & metrics.
- Ability to work weekends, holidays and occasional after-hour assignments.
- Proven experience as IT director or similar role
- Experience in analysis, implementation and evaluation of IT & AV systems and their specifications
- Experience in controlling information technology budget
- Excellent organizational and leadership skills
- Outstanding communication abilities
- Knowledge of networked systems including Windows and OS X.
- Knowledge of network design and hardware including router configuration.
- Ability to administer e-mail system, LAN, user management, security, backups, and network monitoring protocol/systems.
- Ability to organize, plan and manage technical projects.
- Bachelor's Degree in I.T. or related field.
