What are the responsibilities and job description for the Nurse Practitioner position at San Feliz Urgent Care?
Immediate opening at Urgent Care. We are seeking an experienced (ER or Urgent Care or Family Practice) Nurse Practitioner to join our brand new/state-of-the-art Urgent Care team. You will focus on providing high-quality patient care as part of a healthcare team.
Part-time and full-time positions are available
1099 pay $80-90/hr depending upon experience and references.
Benefit: Malpractice insurance.
At least 1 year of direct urgent care/ emergency department or primary care provider-level experience required
(This position is not being offered to new graduates).
Must be fully independent and capable of doing procedures, including abscess drainage, laceration repair, digital blocks, splinting etc. and also basic X-Ray and EKG interpretation with support. Medical Director is always readily available for questions, consultation and mentoring, including reviewing all EKGs/X-rays if needed.
Responsibilities:
- Diagnose and treat acute, episodic or chronic illnesses
- Prescribe all necessary medications and treatments
- Perform comprehensive physical examinations of patients
- Feel comfortable with procedures, including laceration repair and abscess incision and drainage
- Develop and implement patient management policies and procedures
- Facilitate referrals to other healthcare professionals and medical facilities
- Communicate with collaborating physician or specialist regarding patient care
- Comfortable seeing and treating patients from all age groups
- Perform complete physical exams and assessments of patients including urgent, emergent, and non‐urgent presentation.
- Select, order, and perform tests and procedures to augment physical findings.
- Define/document differential diagnoses and list differential diagnoses with most likely diagnosis included.
- Write orders for tests, procedures, and the implementation and management of therapies by following medically accepted guidelines
- Perform diagnostic and therapeutic procedures as deemed necessary and appropriate for plan of care
- Interpret data and diagnostic results for appropriate course of action including but not limited to blood and urine tests, radiology, EKG, etc.
- Notate findings and treatment course in patient chart including follow‐up notes.
Qualifications:
- Ability to build rapport with patients, friendly with great bedside manner and excellent customer service skills
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment often seeing 2-4 patients per hour.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong leadership qualities
- Punctual, reliable and a team player
- Perform patient call backs daily for results
- EMR proficient (training will be provided for Athenahealth)
- Excellent patient care and time management skills
- Certificate of completion from an accredited Nurse Practitioner Program
- Current AANP Certification required
- Unrestricted CA NP license
- Current CA DEA certificate required prior to start date
Education:
- Graduation from a Nurse Practitioner Program approved by the Board of Registered Nursing (BRN).
- NP Only: Master's degree in nursing (effective 1/1/03 for those not previously grandfathered in by CMS).
License/Certification:
- Current California Nurse Practitioner Certificate.
- Current Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) Certificate required.
- Furnishing number issued by the Board of Registered Nursing (BRN) required.
- Basic Life Support certificate from the American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
- NP Only: Current California RN License.
- NP Only: Current California Furnishing Number.
- Maintain current national certification from approved organizations (American Nurses Credentialing Center, American Academy of Nurse Practitioners, National Certification Corporation for Obstetric, Gynecologic and Neonatal Nursing Specialties, or the Pediatric Nursing Certification Board)
- Current American Heart Association BLS card.
- National Provider Identification Number (NPI).
