Debone Superintendent
Primary Functions:
- Supervises and coordinates production, sales and inventories.
- Provides leadership for first line supervisors to meet their strategic objectives in the deboning and comminuted meat departments.
Major Responsibilities:
- Supervises and maintains quality of product produced.
- Monitors plant housekeeping and the physical assets of the company.
- Monitors labor cost and overtime and assures proper staffing.
- Trains and provides leadership for supervisors.
- Controls supply waste and monitors deboning supply quality.
- Selects and terminates immediate subordinates.
- Assists Packing Manager in making recommendations for equipment purchases.
- Creates and maintains a safe working environment.
- Keeps maintenance informed of mechanical problems and assures machinery is working properly.
- Performs yearly reviews.
- Plans daily production and coordinates production with sales.
- Responsible for yearly budget.
- Keeps maintenance informed of mechanical problems.
- Counsels all subordinates both salaried and hourly.
- Responsible for monthly safety training and departmental safety walkthrough.
- Performs other duties as required.
Key Working Relationships:
- Reports to the Packing Manager who provides general supervision.
- Works closely with Sales and Packing & Shipping Superintendent in order to put the product in the form that is needed and with other departments to advise of feedback on their workmanship.
- Works closely with USDA, Maintenance, Accounting and Personnel.
- Works closely with customers to ensure a quality product.
- Orders supplies from vendors to maintain departments.
- Ability to manage and communicate with all people, coordinate different activities among various departments at the same time and maintain smooth product flow.
Position Requirements:
Academic: High school diploma or equivalent.
Experience: Two or three years supervisory experience in a poultry processing plant or equivalent experience.
Physical: Able to work in various temperatures. This includes temperatures of 32 to 50 degrees
Fahrenheit. Able to work in cold, wet and humid environment. Able to bend, stoop, reach, grasp, twist and kneel. Able to lift 40lbs or more, utilizing proper lifting techniques. Able to work in noisy and dusty environments. Able to stand for long periods of times. Tolerate exposure to chemicals within OSHA limits. Able to wear all required PPE. Able to meet the criteria of the DOT Motor Vehicle Records.
