Description
Supports the financial operations and management of the Credit Union through accounting functions including account payables, daily reconciliations of general ledger accounts, payroll and fixed assets roll forward schedule. Assists with more complex accounting functions including general ledger postings, cash reconciliations and regular monthly financial statement close process.
Job Duties:
- Must be able to manage complex accounting processes independently
- Autonomously provide trend analysis and insight to processes and outcomes
- Aid in the month end close review process
- Superior analytical and problem-solving skills involving general ledger accounts and processes
- Proven ability to work both independently and collaboratively
- May perform any of the following:
o Process account payables, fixed assets and/or prepaid expenses
o Produce regulatory reports
o Assist with investment postings
o Send and/or receive wire transfers for settlement
o Helps monitor and reconcile general ledger for valid transactions and outages
o Ensure resolution of outstanding reconciliation exceptions
o Codes accounts payable invoices with appropriate general ledger accounts
o Supports monthly bank account reconciliation
o Assist in providing requested items during regulatory audits
- May provide assistance with or act as back-up for the following:
o Daily cash reconcilement
o Financial statement preparation for subsidiaries (i.e., Consumer Financial Services, LLC.)
o Employee payroll processing as well as payment and reconcilement of employee insurance, tax withholdings and 401(k)
contributions
o Amortization and balancing of monthly indirect lending activity
o Balance and reconcile daily item processing cash letters
- Balance general ledger accounts.
- Assist in the month-end closings of SLFCU’s financial statements
- Perform both daily and monthly activity and account reconciliations
- Maintain basic knowledge of products and services
Requirements
Experience and Knowledge:
- Minimum five years accounting experience (preferably in a financial institution).
- Thorough knowledge of accounting/finance concepts and principles.
- Advanced proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office applications (particularly MS Excel and Word) and accounting software; demonstrates ability to learn new software.
- Basic knowledge of Credit Union products and services, features, and benefits.
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or relevant field, or equivalent number of relevant classes or work experience.

Salary : $24 - $30
