Summary
The Underwriter provides efficient customer service to internal/external clients, gathers account information (loss information, driver information, financials, loss control reports, etc.), rates, and issues policies to deliver a superior Insurance product. The incumbent ensures electronic file integrity. The Underwriter is responsible for processing statutory notices, endorsements and other duties as directed by management.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Adheres to compliance procedures and internal/operational risk controls in accordance with any and all applicable regulatory standards, requirements, and policies
- Composes accurate and easily understood messages to applicants and outbound Associates if additional information is required to finalize underwriting decisions
- Creates, analyzes, and interprets data from various reports
- Determines whether to accept, modify, or decline risks
- Expands base of knowledge and scope of products
- Oversees and approves endorsements as indicated
- Processes statutory notices, endorsements
- Renders accurate approvals and denials in accordance with program requirements all loans assigned
- Utilizes underwriting tools to determine accurate classifications, rates, and premium charges

Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree or equivalent work experience - Finance, Accounting, Management, Economics or equivalent field
- 0-3 years relevant experience and/or training
- Ability to effectively use multiple systems
- Demonstrates strong written and verbal communication skills
- Proficiency in online reference manuals and materials
- Proficient in MS Word and Excel
- Strong desk management skills, ability to multitask, independently organize work and prioritize competing demands and requests to complete assigned tasks within required time constraints
- Actively seeks information to understand customer needs
- Can identify key financial concepts and potential operational risks within relevant area of responsibility
- Defines issues accurately and identifies the critical components
- Maintains professional behavior at all times in representing the company
