The SARA, Inc. High Power Electromagnetics Division (HPEM) is looking for a remarkably talented, motivated, and imaginative CMM Operator to support the Production Engineering Department’s activities to transition innovative technologies to the DoD, DoE, and their contractors in Colorado Springs, CO. The CMM Operator will work within the Quality Section consisting of other CMM Operators, quality inspectors, quality engineers, and Inventory Control Specialists.
Core Responsibilities:
- First Article and ongoing Inspection of fabricated parts
- Setup, program, and operate Coordinate Measuring Machine (CMM)
- Create and revise CMM programs and reports to reflect customer specifications
- Uphold the training of QA focused instructions and workflow
- Produce Receiving Inspection Reports
- Write Non-Conformance Reports
- Use creativity to solve fabrication problems in order to maintain the flow and quality of fabricated parts
- Read and comprehend engineering drawings
- Analyze and interpret CMM reports to determine adherence to customer specifications
- Perform preventative maintenance on the CMM and ensure CMM software remains up to date
- Use precision measuring instruments such as calipers and micrometers
- Provide support to the quality team with FAIR, In-Process or Final Inspection activities as needed
- Maintain records of testing, information and various tracking metrics
- Verify calibration of gauges and related inspection equipment and supplies
- Determine where improvements can be made by building and improving quality processes & systems
- Ensure adherence to health and safety guidelines
- Maintain, clean, and organize Metrology Lab Space on a daily / weekly basis
- Minimize clutter around work areas
- Sweep the floor around work areas
- Keep tools clean and stored in designated areas
Requirements:
- High School Diploma or GED
- 5 years of work-related experience
- Experienced in quality inspection techniques and Non-Conformance Reporting
- Ability to comprehend detailed work instructions, interpret engineering drawings, schematics, sketches, specifications and standards
- Experience with programming/operating CMM/CNC machining for metallics and composite parts
- Ability to use various measurement and calibration tools (calipers, micrometers, height gauges, etc.)
- Ability to work effectively with cross functional groups – Machinists, Engineering, Project Management and Customers with minimal assistance
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Self-starter
- Operate with minimal supervision
- Strong organization skills and high attention to detail
- Knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T)
- Experience with Six Sigma & ISO 9001 processes within a production environment
- Strong proficiency using MS Office suite including Outlook, Word, Excel, and Power Point
- US Citizenship required
- Ability to obtain and maintain DoD security clearance
- Moderate physical effort, involving standing, sitting and use of hands while performing duties, carrying or occasional lifting 30-50 pounds
- Working environment is indoor, moderately loud, reasonably clean, well-lighted and well-ventilated, moderate physical hazards may exist
Preferred Qualifications:
- Technical Associate’s Degree
- Experience with Mastercam and SolidWorks
- Experience with QA/QC measurement tools ISO 9001
- Certifications as a Quality Inspector (CQI) and/or Six Sigma Green Belt through ASQ
- Aerospace and/or Defense industry experience
- Experience using Deltek Costpoint (MRP System / Materials Module)

Salary Range: $25 - $30 / hour
