What are the responsibilities and job description for the Registered Dental Hygienist position at Sarasota Dentistry?
Sarasota Dentistry is looking for a Full Time or Part Time Dental Hygienist depending on the right candidate. Our practice is patient centered and our mission is quality care and personal service. Dr. Michael is a native to Sarasota and is the owner and operator - we are not part of any corporate dentistry. We have a great team that all get along and need an additional team member that is motivated, caring and compassionate to join us. All duties must be performed with our mission in mind as we help treat patients and promote good oral health practices. Our hygienists wear magnification and a headlight to optimize the ability provide quality care. Our office is completely digital so we expect the perfect fit for our office to have excellent technological skills and high proficiency with typing for entering of digital charting, digital notes, and probing's. In our office the new patients always see the doctor before any dental cleaning type is prescribed, so our hygienists focus on cleaning teeth and advising patients on oral health and preventative care. As a Dental Hygienist, you should be reliable and able to build trust with our adult patient base. You should have deep knowledge of relevant health and safety rules and a good eye for oral diseases and anomalies. Continuing education is a huge part of our practice so our hygiene team will be expected to attend continuing education frequently. Responsibilities
- Ensure patients feel as comfortable as possible before their examination
- Sterilize dental instruments properly
- Conduct initial mouth screenings and check oral health history
- Identify conditions like gingivitis, caries or periodontitis
- Clean and help protect patients’ teeth (e.g. remove plaque or apply fluoride)
- Educate patients of all ages on proper teeth care (by demonstrating, for example, good brushing techniques)
- Give instructions to patients after operations or other dental procedures
- Take X-rays or dental impressions
- Assist dentists with selecting appropriate treatments for various diseases (including oral cancer)
- Maintain documentation and charts on each patient
- Monitor supplies
Skills
- Proven experience as Dental Hygienist or similar role
- In-depth knowledge of health and safety regulations in this profession (e.g. HIPAA, OSHA, etc.)
- Technological skills with digital charting, digital x-rays, and typing
- Experience in preparing and maintaining dental equipment
- Outstanding communication skills
- A patient and friendly personality
- Attention to detail
- Stamina to meet the physical demands of the job
- Diploma in Dental Hygiene; Other certifications are a plus
- Valid license to practice in the state of Florida
Job Type: Full Time (possible part-time)
Pay: $40-65 per hour minimum start (Pay is negotiable based on experience)
