Job Description
The ELL Coordinator is responsible for oversight and compliance of all components of the English Language Learner program.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Create and maintain all student ELL and FEL records that includes home language surveys, intake assessments, quarterly progress reports, ACCESS results and FEL monitoring
Manage the identification and placement process for new ELL students—this includes training ELL staff members to administer intake assessments
Support the School Data and Operations Manager to deliver accurate SIMS reporting data
Hire, supervise and evaluate ELL staff, and ensure staff have proper certification and trainings
Create schedules and rosters for the ELL staff that comply with DESE requirements
Conduct an annual review of the ELL program and curriculum
Manage all aspects of ACCESS testing (i.e., scheduling, materials management, trainings, etc.)
Regularly review ELL curriculum and lesson plans
Lead monthly ELL department meetings and keep LFDCS staff updated on changes to ELL rules and regulations
Provide documentation and evidence for Coordinated Program Reviews, Tiered Focus Monitoring and Re-chartering as it relates to the ELL program
Co-chair the English Learners Parent Advisory Council (ELPAC) and collaborate with the school’s Special Education Director and Special Education Parent Advisory Council
Manage parent communications including Initial Notifications, Annual Notifications, FEL Notifications and ACCESS information.
Work with the RTI and Assessment Coordinator to track ELL Benchmarks and institute individual support plans
Collaborate with the Assistant Superintendent on the Title III Grant; organize and manage the Title III Grant programs (ex. ELL Family Math Night and ELL Summer Academy)
Provide professional development to staff on ELL and SEI best practices

The Lawrence Family Development Charter School was founded in 1995 with 178 students enrolled in Kindergarten through third grade. It has grown since then to a Kindergarten-1 through eighth grade institution with an enrollment of 860 students. Admission to the school is based on a yearly lottery to fill 100 K-1 seats that are available every August/September. Vacancies that exist in K-2 to grade 4 when school opens in August/September are also filled through the lottery system. Over 250 children are currently on the waiting list for admission to LFDCS. Our educational program features small class size to enhance learning potential. Kindergarten through eighth grade classrooms have a maximum of 20 students. LFDCS is committed to providing equitable access to programs that are of high quality and developmentally appropriate, while ensuring that a focus on student learning is maintained through frequent and appropriate assessments of the educational program and students. Job Requirements
- Master’s Degree (ESL or a related field)
Massachusetts ESL Teacher Certification (required)
Massachusetts Supervisor/Director Certification (preferred)
Knowledge of ESL curriculum, language acquisition and appropriate use of SEI techniques
Commitment to the goals and mission of LFDCS
Experience in an urban education setting, preferably with Hispanic students
Excellent organization and communication skills (oral and written)
Skilled with the use of technology and digital instructional platforms
Bilingual skills (Spanish/English) preferred
Extended School-Year Position: 205 days
Reports to: Principal - At least 3 years of relevant experience preferred
- Master degree preferred
- Citizenship, residency or work visa required

Salary : $60,900 - $77,100
