Professional Staff Positions (Job Description: Teachers)  TITLE: Teacher

 QUALIFICATIONS:  

1. The teacher must be appropriately licensed in the State of Colorado as provided by law.

 2. Licensed staff must be qualified for the area or grade level in which they perform, meeting Colorado Department of Education accreditation standards as well as North Central Association standards for high school positions.

 REPORTS TO: Building Principal  

SUPERVISES: Students and Teacher Aides

 PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:  It is the responsibility of the teachers of the Sargent School District to perform up to district standards or higher in all twenty-four standard areas.  

  Performance Area A – Content

 A. 1.  Displays a thorough knowledge of curriculum and subject matter.

 A. 2.  Demonstrates understanding of important concepts in course outline.

 A. 3.  Demonstrates knowledge of appropriate resource materials.  

Performance Area B – Productive Teaching Techniques

 B. 1.  Demonstrates effective planning skills.

 B.   2.  Demonstrates knowledge of various forms of technology and the willingness    to integrate it appropriately in instruction.

 B.   3.  Uses motivational methods.

 B.   4.  Communicates effectively with students.

 B.   5.  Provides students with specific evaluation feedback.

 B.   6.  Demonstrates knowledge of and sensitivity for culture and gender of     students.

 B.   7.  Provides opportunity for individual differences.

 B.   8.  Sets high expectations for student achievement for all students.

 B.   9.  Insures student time on task.

 Performance Area C – Organization, Structured Class Management  

C. 1.  Makes effective use of time, materials and resources.

 C.   2.  Maintains high behavioral standards.

 C.   3.  Organizes students for effective instruction.

 Performance Area D – Positive Interpersonal Relationships  

D. 1.  Demonstrates effective interpersonal relationships with community/parents.

 D.   2.  Demonstrates effective interpersonal relationships with staff.  

D.   3.  Promotes positive student self-concept.

 D.   4.  Demonstrates sensitivity in relating to students.

D.   5.  Promotes self-discipline and responsibility.

 E.   1.  Demonstrates employee responsibility.

 E. 2.  Demonstrates a willingness to keep curriculum and instruction practices      current.
