Position Summary: The office clerk performs a wide range of responsibilities that are covered by their maximum qualifications and competencies. The office clerk conducts a myriad of office support and administrative functions within the business office. This position could be responsible for different jobs in the office and cross-train in others.
Duties:
Patient Accounts
- Answering phones, transferring calls, and paging as needed
- Admitting patients in computer for outpatient work as needed
- Assisting patients, resident, visitors, and employees with questions or needs
- Work with the patients who have questions about their payment schedule or account balances.
- Pick up charges daily from nursing department.
- Do charges for lab, inpatient, outpatient, Satanta outreach program, physical therapy, counseling, surgery, ER patients and pain management.
- Submitting tickets to GPHA for any new procedure charges.
- Communicating with nursing departments if any documents or documentation is needed for charges to be posted.
- Check all ER, outpatient demographics
- Making calls to patients or employers to obtain medical insurance or workers’ comp information.
- Sort out charges, input them in computer.
- Assists with hospital and clinic AR
Assist in aspects of business office
- Assists with forms, doing spreadsheets and various other tasks as needed.
Continuous Professional Development
- Maintains professional growth and development through seminars, workshops, and professional affiliations to keep abreast of latest trends in field of expertise
- Participates in hospital meetings and services organizations as required
Education and/or Experience: High School Diploma: Required
Experience: Office experience preferred. Basic computer skills are required.
Certificates, Licenses,
Registrations: None required but any held applicable to the program description will be evaluated.
Reasoning Abilities: Ability to carry out detailed written and/or verbal instructions. Ability to solve problems involving concrete variables in standardized situations. Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.

- Subject to many interruptions
- Large part of day is spent on computer entering date

- Occasional heavy physical effort (life/carry up to 25 lbs.)
