The Business Administrator, working under the general supervision of the Superintendent, exercising leadership initiative and using independent judgment, in compliance with State and Federal laws, regulations, statutes and policies, as well as those of the New Hampshire Board of Education. Overall responsibilities involve short and long range planning and administration of the District’s Business, Food Service, Facilities, and Transportation services. This position provides support to the Superintendent and three School District Boards.
QUALIFICATIONS
1.Holds NHASBO (NH Association of School Business Officials) Certification, or is eligible for NHASBO Certification (program to be started within 3 months of hire, and completed within 1-3 years of program start date).
2.Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Business Administration, Finance, or Accounting preferred
3.A minimum of five years’ experience with demonstrated leadership skills in Finance, Business Administration, Human Resources, Facilities Management and/or SAU Central Office Management.
4.Strong interpersonal and verbal communication skills including the ability to effectively present information to groups of individuals, maintain effective working relationships within the District, and with other relevant local agencies.
5.Ability to present written documents that are clear, concise and grammatically correct.
6.Ability to operate personal computers utilizing spreadsheet, word processing and financial software.
7.Comprehensive knowledge of principles and practices of fiscal planning and budgetary development and the ability to apply them to the needs of the District.
8.Successful completion of criminal history background check and pre-employment physical.
RESPONSIBILITIES
1.Oversee the smooth, efficient and effective financial and business operations of the District, Facilities Management, Transportation Services and Food Service Operations.
2.Responsible for the supervision, development and evaluation of the Food Service Directors and the Maintenance Directors for the 3 School Districts as well as Business Office Support Staff.
3.Supervise and administer all General Liability, Property, E & O, and Student Insurance for the District.
4.Ensure the maintenance of the District’s Fixed Asset Inventory, periodically recommending assets that should be disposed of or assets that should be replaced or renovated.
5.Supervise the purchasing for the District including but not limited to vendor negotiations and contracts, preparation of bid specifications, maintenance of an inventory control system for insurance purposes and all related work associated with the above.
6.Supervise the safe, effective and efficient operation of student transportation services, responding to community and parent issues and emergency situations.
7.Coordinate and supervise the maintenance and repair of all school facilities and grounds. Oversee the efficient and effective operation of Facility services, inclusive of materials and supplies used, staffing issues, staff training, custodial cleaning schedules and areas.
8.Work with Maintenance Director to develop a long-term capital improvement plan for the district. Develop and recommend to the School Board the annual budget for the repair and maintenance of the schools. Coordinate and implement planning for new construction and renovation to physical school district buildings.
9.Work with the Joint Loss Management Committee(s) to assure the maintenance of a safe environment for students and staff in all buildings.
10.Extensive computer knowledge, including Windows and Microsoft Office. Municipal software experience and system conversions helpful.
11.Attend and participate in all meetings of the school board, budget and facility committee meetings. Prepare and submit to the board necessary and helpful facts, information and reports required to ensure the making of informed decisions. Inform and advise the board about programs, practices and problems, conditions of the schools, and the need for new or revised policies.
12.Familiar with and able to prepare all state reports as required.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
1.In a normal work-day, the employee may be required to combine standing, walking and sitting; continuously sit at desk, keyboard, etc. for several hours, lift/carry up to 15 pounds infrequently, bend frequently; squat, kneel, climb/balance, reach above shoulder level and lift from high/low positions occasionally.
