These are just a few of the benefits you can expect from working with Savage:$1,500 Sign-On Bonus Local work, home every dayA culture that appreciates our Team MembersA fleet with the majority of trucks being less than 4 years old, all automatic transmissionsPaid Time Off (“PTO”)Paid holidaysProfit Sharing potentialUniforms and laundry serviceExcellent benefits including medical, dental, vision, life, disability, 401(k)Position Summary:The mechanic will primarily work with their team on preventive maintenance and repair of a variety of tractors, trailers, and other equipment in the Baton Rouge area.Requirements of a successful Mechanic:Perform heavy and minor repairs on all trucks and sulfur trailersMaintain shop cleanliness and parts inventoryUtilize computer based diagnostic systems, skills, knowledge and experience to determine what repairs need to be done and whether it's a warranty issueOccasional tire workImplement a thorough preventative maintenance program for a fleet of tractors and sulfur trailers including: fueling, greasing, changing oil and other fluids and inspecting trucks for needed repairsAccurately record work performed in the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS)What you’ll need to be successful:Diesel Mechanic experience or schooling (Diesel Certification program)Experience with Manager Plus maintenance system is preferredExperience with a variety of trucks a plusExperience with sulfur trailers a plusConfidence in repairing suspensions, rear ends, transmissions, air brake systems, minor engine work (injectors, turbos, etc.) and moreAn expert in identifying and diagnosing needed repairs by computer based systems, being able to visually recognize problems a big plusClass A CDL a plus, but not requiredPhysical Requirements:Will be on your feet for extended period of time throughout the dayNavigating the facility will include, but is not limited to, exposure to harsh weather conditions, uneven ground, ladders, racks and other high places, ground that can be slick, icy or uneven, and other industrial hazardsThe work site is an industrial setting and will require someone who can work safely in this type of environmentAbility to lift 100 poundsFull job description available upon interview
