The Georgia World Congress Center is currently seeking a Carpenter I to join our team. This position reports to the Facility Manager - Maintenance. Duties to include have an in depth knowledge of commercial carpentry and general trade related work. This position requires ability and skill levels to perform carpentry tasks with a minimum of direction. Responsibilities shall include, but not be limited to, general building maintenance of rough and finish carpentry, door hardware, utilization of computerized work order system, executing work plans, performing all facets of carpentry work, host of general maintenance tasks. Completion of day-to-day event requests, training and assigning work to subordinate staff and any other such duties and functions as assigned and providing engineering services located in the Georgia World Congress Center, Centennial Olympic Park and associated areas as directed.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Performance of general carpentry and other related tasks as required to maintain our facilities in the highest level of maintenance as achievable.
- Monitor and secure the safekeeping of carpentry and maintenance equipment and supplies.
- Maintain a professional image that represents the philosophy of the Georgia World congress Center Authority with emphasis on providing exhibitors and clients with the highest level of customer service deemed possible.
- Notify appropriate personnel of equipment and facilities needing repair or replacement.
- Initiate and complete work orders as required to maintain proper operation of equipment.
- Maintain environmental conditions to satisfy the needs and comfort for our customers.
- Initiate and complete work orders as required maintaining proper operation of equipment, and utilizing the CMMS; Inputting labor, and material used
- Maintain a close relationship with companies operating within the Georgia World Congress Center.
- Prepare requests for purchases and operate within specified budgets.
- Notify supervisor of equipment and facilities requiring repair or replacement.
- Participate in periodic departmental meetings as required.
- Participate in all Georgia World Congress Center and Facility management Department training programs as required.
- Maintain productivity in accordance with departmental standards, and ensure that maximum efficiency is realized. Supervise Team members with installation of all events.
- Maintain accountability of work orders for his/her assigned areas. Be pro-active in finding ways to work smarter and more efficiently.
- Such other duties, functions, special projects and responsibilities as assigned.
- Position requires an irregular work schedule, and the performance of work assignments that may not be directly related to job specifications.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
- Minimum high school education or general education degree (GED).
- Minimum of five (5) years’ experience as a commercial carpenter. Supervisory experience as a carpenter foreman in the field of commercial construction or equivalent is desirable.
- Certificate from a technical school or apprenticeship program preferred.
- Prefer experience with a commercial facility that demonstrates operational and project planning knowledge.
