Physician
Location: Calais, ME
Hours: 16-24 hours per week
Monday- Friday! No weekends
Summary:
Physician will be responsible for providing medical and educational services to patients for the prevention, evaluation, diagnosis, treatment, and recovery of persons with the disease of addiction, of those with substance-related health conditions, and of people who show unhealthy use of substances including alcohol, prescription medications and other licit and illicit drugs.
Role and Responsibilities
Interprets test results to diagnose any health issues and provides feedback to patients
Counsels patients regarding medication compliance
Completes patient evaluations and physical exams with thorough, timely documentation to include coordination of care
Patient follow up visits to include detailed, timely documentation including patients’ progress with medication and/or treatment
Contacts patients’ PCPs and/or specialists when necessary
Evaluates lab results and provides consultation with Midlevel Practitioners regarding abnormal findings
Reviews and oversees progress and treatment plans, including making any adjustments to the plans.
Participates in provider meetings and staff meetings as determined requested
Maintains confidentiality
Performs other duties as requested
Qualifications and Education Requirements
Current, in good-standing M.D. or D.O. License required
BLS certification.
DATA-waiver prescription privilege (DEAX).
Preferred Skills
Experience in addiction treatment preferred
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Excellent customer service skills
Computer literacy; typing skills, knowledge of EMRs, MS Word, MS Excel
Ability to work with individuals and groups from diverse populations; bilingual/bicultural preferred
Strong analytical skills to synthesize complex or diverse information; collects and researches data.
Ability to identify and resolve problems in a timely manner.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Ability to multi-task
Ability to effectively manage time to meet deadlines
