What are the responsibilities and job description for the Pet Care Lead position at Savy Paws Pet Resort?
This is a hands-on position overseeing kennel staff in daily responsibilities. The kennel supervisor assists the rest of the managerial staff in the application of all facility policies and procedures. They provide the highest quality of care for the animals entrusted to the facility, record keeping, inventory, staffing needs, cleanliness of facility, and the safety and security of the kennel staff and animals.
Job Requirements/Skills/Physical Demands:
Must be able to effectively lead a team and work under direct and indirect supervision. Multi-tasking, self-motivation, attention to detail, punctuality, and the ability to work independently are required skills. Must be able to exercise good judgment when dealing with both confidential information and employee issues.
Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Kennel Operations and Animal Care
- Oversees and performs daily cleaning and neatness of kennel, and bathing areas.
- Monitors and documents the health and behavior of boarding and daycare animals
- Administers medications to boarding and daycare animals as needed
- Implements and performs cleaning/disinfecting protocol.
*Supervises animals while they are in the yard.
- Performs baths
- Responsible for care and repair of washing machine and clothes dryer, cage dryers, air-conditioners, heaters and any other electrical or plumbing problem that may occur in the kennel, grooming or bathing rooms
- Maintains and controls inventory of supplies.
2. Receptionist Operations
- As first contact with clients, this person must have excellent personal skills, telephone skills and etiquette to interact in a professional, courteous and efficient manner with current and potential customers. The individual must understand all policies, procedures and pricing at Savy Paws Pet Resort.
3. Organizational Leadership
- Analyzes problems and initiates work improvements
- Keeps General Manager informed of progress, concerns, and employee performance.
- Responsible with the Manager for answering and responding to all complaints
regarding the kennel and bathing operations
- Keeps Owner and Manager informed of boarding animals health and behavior
observations.
- Ensures all kennel staff provide superior customer service
- Is a team player and represents the facility in a professional and courteous manner at all times. Provides quality service to our customers, and staff, recognizing
their individual contributions to the success of our organization
- Takes immediate action to address any safety concerns or noncompliance with OSHA safety rules that could put an employee, client, or animal at risk.
- Other duties as assigned.
Working Conditions:
Work is performed in a kennel setting. Exposure to high noise levels when in kennel area. Is subject to animal bites and scratches while handling animals of questionable temperament. Occasional lifting of over 50 pounds. Standing on feet for 8 or more hours a day. Exposure to wet and/or humid conditions indoors and outside weather conditions.

Pay: $15.00 - $20.00 per hour
