This position is in support of Four Rivers Nuclear Partnership at the Gas Diffusion Plant that is located near Paducah, Kentucky. This posting is a multi-level position that is based on previous experience. Sawtooth Support Systems LLC may be hire up to three to four Industrial Hygienists from this job posting.
**These positions are required to support the "2nd shift" Mon-Thurs starting at 8:00 pm - 6:30 am. Those candidates that are hired will begin working a normal Mon-Thurs day shift until April/May of 2023 before permanently moving to the designated 2nd shift mentioned above.**
Position Summary:
Under management supervision, the Industrial Hygienist (multi-level posting) is responsible for implementing and administering project industrial hygiene programs affecting employee, public safety and occupational health. Serves as a resource for line management to administer a proactive prevention program for occupational accidents and illnesses; under general supervision performs technical work in a wide range of industrial hygiene disciplines to achieve compliance with ES&H standards along with federal and state regulatory requirements; exhibits knowledge and applies the fundamental concepts, practices and procedures of industrial hygiene; assists in the development, implementation and maintenance of industrial hygiene programs, systems and procedures; monitors and prevents hazards and diseases that could be found in the work area; investigates accidents, injuries, and complaints concerning hazards in the workplace; recommends improvements in processes, design, procedures and operating equipment to minimize hazards; conducts employee training, emergency preparedness and assures the quality of programs; provides regulatory interpretation and technical advice; may provide guidance for a team of ES&H specialists and/or support personnel. This position may require shift work to support plant operations.

- Provides technical assistance to office and field operations to ensure compliance with applicable international, Federal, State, and/or Company health and safety regulations.
- Conducts compliance evaluations of equipment, structures, and work in progress to ensure that regulatory safety and health standards of the Company and all applicable codes are followed.
- Recommends facilities and technological specifications to carry out programs that fulfill the organization's overall objectives.
- Attend work planning meetings to identify occupational health hazards and provided recommended controls to execute the work safely.
- Prepares and reviews technical reports, correspondence and program compliance documents.
- Establishes and maintains permits as required. Meets applicable regulatory codes and standards where required.
- Develops and implements IH programs including IH processes, procedures and/or specifications.
- Develops IH training programs and conducts IH training meetings as necessary.
- Trains and assists subordinate industrial hygienists in sampling and assessment methodologies.
- Conducts and assists projects with sampling, monitoring, data interpretation and occupational health surveys to ensure compliance with established programs.
- Industrial Hygiene Specialists II are expected to pursue and/or complete a professional certification, such as an ABIH Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH).
Qualification and Skills
Basic Qualifications:
- Level One: BS Degree in a specialized scientific field (e.g., occupational safety and health, chemistry, biology, engineering, or other acceptable fields) from an accredited university and 1 year of progressively responsible related experience. In lieu of a degree 7 years of progressively responsible related experience.
- Level Two: BS Degree in a specialized scientific field (e.g., occupational safety and health, chemistry, biology, engineering, or other acceptable fields) from an accredited university and 3 years of progressively responsible related experience. In lieu of a degree 9 years of progressively responsible related experience.
- Must be able to complete and pass a pre-employment physical, drug screen, and background check which includes verification of employment and education.
- Must be able to obtain a DOE badge for access to the Hanford Site.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Technical knowledge of Industrial Hygiene systems, principles, best practices, and calculations and the application of IH methods, standards and materials.
- Knowledge of industry and regulatory standards and criteria pertinent to Industrial Hygiene.
- Knowledge of Industrial Hygiene training program materials and methods.
- Knowledge of problem investigation, regulatory and internal audit practices and procedures.
- Proficient in computer applications.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Good oral and written communication skills.
- Possess the legal right to work and remain in the US without sponsorship.
- Pervious DOE, or DOD experience. Certification in Comprehensive Practice of Industrial Hygiene through a recognized accrediting organization.
- Experience in a nuclear, heavy construction, chemical processing, or petroleum environment.

Pay: $60,000.00 - $150,000.00 per year
