Sr. Satellite Engineer

We are looking for a senior-level Satellite Engineer with experience in Space Control Segment Engineering in support of space-related research, development, test, production, launch, and sustainment activities for Space Systems Command/Narrowband SATCOM Acquisition Delta (SSC/CGN). This position is contingent upon contract award and will be in San Diego, CA but with remote work potential.
Responsibilities:
- For Space Vehicles on-orbit, oversee a review of each vehicle’s quarterly State of Health Report. Trend performance, investigate negative trends, and propose mitigation options.
- Participate in on-orbit investigations, provide risk assessments and recommendations. Track and trend trouble tickets. Provide engineering analysis, requirements reviews, risk assessments, and failure reviews to assist SSC/CGN in managing current and future development, fielding, and sustainment.
- Evaluate flight software and command/telemetry database changes and support associated design reviews and validation testing prior to release for upload. Review test plan and support execution of system development and operational tests. Observe demonstrations, exercises, operational events, and tests. Provide test reports and recommendations based on observations.
- Track space vehicle configurations and update reliability and availability predictions.
- Evaluate analysis of alternatives for space infrastructure approaches to determine optimal fit for MUOS mission needs.
- Manage, record, evaluate process improvements across all satellite operation domains.
- Author Task Order contracts as required for SSC/CGN sustainment mission needs.
- Support review and release of operational support and sustainment products including On-Orbit Handbooks, Operational Perform Files, and IETM procedures.
- Manage the development of plans and improvements for maximum reliability, and limit outages and congestion. Provide engineering support for "big data" analytics to improve operational awareness and efficiency.
- Lead engineering analysis, requirements reviews, risk assessments, and failure reviews to assist CGN in managing current and future development, fielding, and sustainment.
- Support launch of Narrowband Satellite Communications (NBSC) Systems. Support launch vehicle ICD technical reviews/waivers and identify issues related to launch vehicle and spacecraft Integration and Testing (I&T).
- Participate in technical forums, design reviews, risk management boards, working groups and conferences. Work closely with industry partners, Aerospace, STRATCOM, ARSTRAT, NAVSOC and other DOD and Navy agencies.
- Intimate knowledge of the LM A2100 bus.
Requirements:
- Minimum of Bachelors (BA/BS) degree in a related field and ten (10) years of relevant experience.
- Master’s degree in an engineering field or a minimum of 10 years of related space systems experience supporting DoD satellite communications launch and on-orbit operations, analyses, and RM&A assessments.
- A currently active DoD Secret Security Clearance is required at a minimum. With a TS/SCI, the employee could be brought in on certain specific classified events.
