The Purchasing Assistant will play a pivotal role in aiding the purchasing manager with sourcing, procuring, and managing materials and supplies vital for our manufacturing operations. We are seeking an ideal candidate with strong organizational skills, excellent communication abilities, and a proactive attitude towards problem-solving.
- REQUIREMENTS
- Previous experience in purchasing, procurement, or supply chain management, or related field preferred.
- Requires A High school diploma or GED.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to evaluate suppliers, negotiate contracts, and analyze pricing data.
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to build and maintain effective relationships with vendors and internal stakeholders.
- Must be able to work with the Sales Manager, Production Manager, and Engineering Manager to develop short and long-range schedules.
- Must be computer literate.
- Must be able to communicate verbally and in writing in English to interact with vendors and co-workers.

- WORKING CONDITIONS
- Will work in a climate-controlled enclosed office with Moderate Noise levels. Workdays will be a typical 8 hours per workday or 40 hours per week.
- DUTIES AND TASKS
- Supplier Communication – Communicate with suppliers to obtain quotes, negotiate prices, and ensure timely delivery of materials and supplies.
- Purchase Order Processing – Generate and process purchase orders accurately, ensuring all necessary details such as quantities, prices, and delivery dates are correct.
- Inventory Management – Assist in monitoring and maintaining inventory levels to ensure adequate stock availability while minimizing excess inventory and associated costs.
- Vendor Management – Building and maintaining relationships with vendors and suppliers, addressing any issues or concerns that may arise, and evaluating vendor performance.
- Research and Analysis – Conduct market research to identify potential suppliers, compare product options, and analyze pricing trends to optimize purchasing decisions.
- Documentation and record keeping – Maintain accurate records of purchasing transactions, contracts, and agreements, ensuring compliance with company policies and procedures.
- Quality Assurance – Collaborate with quality control team to ensure received materials meet specified requirements and address any quality issues with suppliers as needed.
- Cost Tracking and Reporting – Tracking purchasing costs, prepare reports on purchasing activities, and analyze spending patterns to identify cost-saving opportunities.
- Compliance – Ensure compliance with relevant laws, regulations, and internal policies governing purchasing and procurement activities.
- MEASURES OF PERFORMANCE
- The extent to which materials are available on time so that production schedules can be met.
- On Time in Full percentage.
- Rebates generated by purchasing.
- Ensures competitive material prices (with quality materials) so that SBI bids are competitive.
