Operations Supervisor

Summary:

The Operations Supervisor is responsible for providing key leadership, direction, organization, management, monitoring and cGMP compliance of the roles, activities and proceedings of all assigned manufacturing personnel to ensure the successful, cost effective, timely and safe processing of customer orders. Responsible for all production activities at the Windsor Connecticut site, including all manufacturing, packaging, warehousing and maintenance operations for a specified shift. Will serve as a member of the site executive leadership team. The incumbent will work with site executive team members and operations staff to provide focus and direction for operations performance improvement within a matrix environment, and will work across various parameters to achieve objectives.

Essential Functions:

• Manages and directs the employees and functions of the manufacturing operations areas to include the preparation of equipment and components to be used in manufacturing and packaging processes.
• Manages all operational aspects of the area including productivity, cost, planning and daily business processes.
• Ensures compliance with all applicable corporate and regulatory SOP, cGMP, and safety guidelines.
• Ensures all personnel receive necessary and appropriate training for their job function.
• Effectively manages employee relations including hiring, discipline, rewards and recognition, and effective human capital resources allocation.
• Participates and represents Company in Regulatory audits and inquiries.
• Develop and achieve annual budget for Operations.
• Develop capital expenditure justifications and recommendations.
• Lead Operational Excellence initiatives to improve operational efficiencies within areas of responsibility.
• Maintain effectiveness of the Quality System components relevant to this position.

• Must possess and demonstrate knowledge and experience in cGMPs and relevant Safety Regulations (e.g., OSHA).
• Must be able to interact effectively with a variety of individuals within and between departments.

Supervisory Responsibilities

• Directs approx. 10 direct reports as well as approx. 100 indirect reports in matters of Operations for the specified shift. General Operations related aspects within SCA Pharmaceuticals including all manufacturing, packaging, warehouse and maintenance operations. See Essential Functions for more responsibilities.

Work Environment

• This position operates in a professional office environment as well as consistently in/around production floor and clean rooms. Routinely uses standard office and laboratory equipment.

Physical Demands

• While performing duties of the job the candidate will be required to talk and hear and will be active throughout the day going from area to area within the production floor when needed.
• Employee is frequently standing and sitting and mobile around the office and production.

Qualifications:

• • 10+ years of progressively increasing managerial experience in a manufacturing environment. Experience serving the pharmaceutical or medical device industry is required.
• • A career background in operations or quality, preferably in sterile and/or aseptic manufacturing.
• • Experience with Operational Excellence, Lean and Six Sigma, or similar efficiency improvement programs is preferred.
• • Proven track record in controlling costs to budget, preferably manufacturing variance management.
• • Proven track record of successful problem solving utilizing critical thinking skills in a fast-paced environment.
• • Large volume, wide customer base contract manufacturing experience strongly desired.
