Position Description:
Scarlet Road is a survivor-led, faith-based non-profit organization serving individuals in need of support to exit the legal and illegal sex industry. Scarlet Road provides outreach to at-risk individuals and prevention within schools, as well as provides aftercare services for those ready and able to leave the sex industry. We aim to meet the basic and long-term needs of the most vulnerable people in our community to equip them with skills to gain independence and find healing from the past.
Scarlet Road is recruiting a Grant Writer to help research, write, and report on grants as a part of our development program. Candidates must have excellent written and verbal communication skills, be proficient in research, interpreting and analyzing diverse data, and possess the ability to work collaboratively and independently. The Grant Writer reports to the Grant Manager.
The Grant Writer position requires a willingness to learn about the problems of sexual exploitation and sex trafficking, the myriad of barriers survivors face, the resiliency of survivors, and how to communicate these in a clear and compelling manner to the granting community.
Job Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Research grantors, guidelines, and reporting requirements
- Construct logic models and clear arguments backed with research
- Generate letters of intent, proposals, and supporting documents
- Engage with other Scarlet Road staff to acquire the needed information, documentation, and statistics in order to communicate program details.
- Communicate through email, over the phone, and in-person with funding agencies and organizations as needed to complete grant proposals.
- Timely submission of grant proposals and reports
- Maintain organized records of grant applications, reports, and prospective opportunities
- Mail annual report, handwritten notes of appreciation, and other acknowledgments
- Meet weekly with grant writing staff to check-in and plan upcoming proposals
Qualifications:
- Minimum Bachelor’s Degree in Communications, English, or similar degree
- Experience in technical or business writing, with previous successful grant writing preferred
- Experience working with non-profit administration or fundraising preferred
- Desire to see survivors freed from sexual exploitation and empowered to find safety and healing
- Excellent and professional writing and oral communication skills
- Analytical and has the ability to communicate and interpret data and outline measurable outcomes
- Ability to pass an extensive background check
- Self-starter with the ability to manage time, meet deadlines, and work well independently
- Ability to work with a team and collaborate
- Detail oriented, highly organized, innovative, articulate, motivated, reliable, team player, and resourceful
- Alignment with organization’s mission and core values
