Responsibilities:
- Oversee the preparation and analysis of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with GAAP
- Ensure the accuracy and completeness of financial records, including general ledger entries, account reconciliations, and financial schedules
- Oversees documented system of accounting policies and procedures, including records archive management
- Maintain internal safeguards for revenue receipts, costs, budgets, and actual expenditures
- Develop and enforce consistent accounting policies, procedures, controls, and reporting systems across all stores and offices, adhering to GAAP accounting standards
- Conduct regular internal audits to assess the effectiveness of internal controls
- Works with the external auditors for the annual financial audit to assist in preparing the annual, audited financial statements in accordance with GAAP accounting standards
- Provides information to auditors and tax accounting partners for tax planning and payment purposes
- Leads the tax team that complies with federal, state, and local legal requirements by studying existing and new legislation, enforcing adherence to requirements, filing financial reports, and advising leadership
- Protects operations by keeping financial information and plans confidential
- Interviews and hires new associates; plans and evaluates the performance of the team; establishes performance requirements and goals; regularly monitors performance and provides coaching for performance improvement and ongoing development

Efficiency

Education & Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or business
- Minimum of ten or more years of accounting or finance experience
- Working knowledge of national and local tax regulations, multiple state tax laws, and compliance reporting
- Experience in developing, monitoring, and streamlining accounting processes
- MBA, CMA, or CPA preferred
