What are the responsibilities and job description for the 21st Century Community Learning Center Teacher Leaders position at Schenectady City School District?
Site locations and hours:
Central Park Middle Schools:
Site Leader: 1 Site Leader for each school
Monday through Thursday
2 hours per day (3:30 PM - 5:30 PM)
For all positions:
- Valid NYS Teacher Certification Required: Elementary, Reading/Literacy, Science, Social Studies, Math, Special Education
- AED/CPR Certification will be required for all positions.
- All programs and positions contingent upon enrollment.
The 21st Century Community Learning Center Extended School Day Program at SHS, MPMS, CPMS, OMS and Keane Elementary School is an opportunity to for students to be supported beyond the school day with hands-on/project based small group instruction/classes and academic/work recovery sessions provided by certified teachers, individual and group counseling sessions provided by social workers, psychologists and/or guidance counselors and enrichment sessions provided by the Boys and Girls Clubs of Schenectady. The 21st Century Program is a federally funded grant program administered by NYS Department of Education, the 2023-24 SY is the 2nd year of the 5 year program.
Teacher Leader Roles & Responsibilities:
- Supervision of teachers in classes
- Ensure student engagement and enrollment in daily sessions
- Complete grant required documentation in EZ reports and Infinite Campus including attendance at each session, logging behavioral incidents, physical incident reports, etc.
- Work with co-Boys & Girls Club of Schenectady Site Leader on necessary student disciplinary issues and parent/caregiver follow up
- Collaborate with Boys and Girls Club site leader & Schools Coordinator, and SCSD 21st Century Program Coordinator on program/family events.
- Collaborate with Boys and Girls Club site leader and Program Manager to plan and organize 4 site council meetings as required per the grant guidelines.
- Attend four 21st Century Advisory Council meetings (usually held virtually)
- Collaborate with SCSD 21st Century Coordinator on site budget
- Follow the grant model and objectives with support from SCSD 21st Century Program Coordinator
- Coordinate with day time teachers on academic needs of students in program needed academic support
- Assist with recruitment of targeted students based on the grant.
- Apply PBIS principles to afterschool programing.
- Other duties as assigned.
