Geotechnical Construction Project Manager, Pre-Construction (Chicago Area)

Schnabel Geo-Structural Design & Construction was founded in 1959 as Schnabel Foundation Company, a design-build excavation support and specialized foundation system construction company, which we still are today. Schnabel has grown from a single office in Washington, DC to include eight offices nationwide where we now employ about 25 professional engineers who bid, design and manage the construction projects in those offices.

Project Managers within the Pre-Construction Team proved Schnabel’s customers with solutions to geotechnical design and construction projects in compliance with the owner’s and engineer’s plans and specifications, and Schnabel's company standards.

Job Responsibilities

• Review drawings, specifications and geotechnical information to determine the scope of work
• Attend pre-bid meetings and post-bid review meetings
• Collaborate with team members to select the best solution for the project
• Prepare preliminary bid design, quantity takeoffs, schedule and cost estimates
• Prepare and deliver proposals to clients
• Develop and maintain relationships with clients and engineers
• Identify and coordinate with team members to implement improvements to processes, procedures and product

• B.S. degree in Civil Engineer, Construction Management, Construction Engineering or equivalent degree and experience
• 5-10 years of heavy civil construction or geotechnical estimating and/or project management experience
• Ability to travel
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
• Creative problem solving and negotiating skill
