What are the responsibilities and job description for the Lead Payroll Specialist position at Schnucks?
The incumbent is responsible for processing and auditing payroll while overseeing a team of payroll specialists. Additionally, in the absence of the Payroll Manager, the incumbent coordinates daily payroll activities and manages the payroll function.
ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Ensure that teammate payroll processing is in compliance with federal, state, and local laws and completed in a timely and accurate manner
Assist in payroll accounting, transactions, reporting, and other operations
Review and audit payroll reports for correctness prior to payroll processing/posting
Provide training and support to payroll specialists. Provide semi-annual reviews and feedback/corrective action/development plans as needed
Accurate and timely filing of quarterly and year end tax with our third party payroll company
Biweekly/Monthly payroll processing
Respond to payroll inquiries from Managers, Labor Relations, and/or teammates in a timely manner
Maintain teammate payroll records in compliance with retention policies
Process manual pay adjustments when required and ensure compliance with overtime laws and union contract guidelines
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Required Education: High School
Other Requirements: Bachelor's degree preferred
Minimum Years of Experience: 3-5 years payroll processing experience for a company with > 7,000 employees; experience with collective bargaining agreements helpful, Workday experience preferred
