JOB TITLE: Senior Systems Administrator - Production Studios
DEPARTMENT: BFA Computer Art, Computer Animation & Visual Effects
REPORTS TO: Technology Manager and Director of Operations
POSITION OVERVIEW: Provide daily systems support to the Computer Art department as outlined below, with emphasis on production studios and audio/visual systems. This is an in-person position.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Implement post production technical strategy and student workflows, this includes color, editorial and audio.
- Work with the Systems Administrator Team on the maintenance, installation and continuous operation of all software and hardware in the department.
- Maintain classroom audio/visual technology including projection, sound reinforcement and Extron AV integration
- Lead use of Production spaces including motion capture volume, DaVinci Resolve color grading suite, Pro Tools recording studio
- Provide general support to faculty, students, departmental exhibitions, promotional material and web page
- Conduct tours for visitors, orientation, various departmental projects, etc.
- Produce content including showcases, demo reels, and livestreams.
- Attend weekly administration meetings, monthly Systems Administrator meetings, lab assistant and general staff meetings.
- May be required to attend computer art and audio-visual related conferences. Expected to stay current with technology.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Windows and macOS proficiency, Linux familiarity
- Color grading and compositing workflows with reference monitors/scopes , Blackmagic and Tangent hardware, and DaVinci Resolve and Foundry Nuke software
- Audio workflows with Avid, Presonus, Shure, Neumann hardware and Avid ProTools, Ableton and Fairlight software
- Working knowledge of on set camera and lighting techniques
- Knowledge of MoCap, greenscreen and studio lighting strongly recommended.
- Ability to interact with staff, faculty and students.
- Some work experience in an academic environment preferred.
- Detail-oriented and punctuality is a must.
- Bachelor's degree required
- Understanding of CG, VFX and render pipelines, color grading and finishing workflows or experience in a similar role in an animation, film, post-production studio or higher education environment preferred
