SUMMARY

Ensures optimal productivity of overall shift operations, including processing and maintenance, by supervising and directing the work of plant employees. 

Directly supervises 15-20 employees in Production Operations. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS (Other duties may be assigned and management retains the discretion to add, delete, or change the duties at any time)

  • Ensures that all areas of operations will be performed in accordance with established company policies, procedures and standards and federal, state and local laws and ordinances
  • Establishes schedules for sufficient personnel to be available to ensure production of all route trailers are completed in a timely manner
  • Complies with ISO quality procedures, which includes but is not limited to Competence, Awareness, and Training and Planning of Product Realization
  • Ensures all route trailers are set up for transportation by following the assigned schedule from dispatch and coordinating the workload between forklift operators and switch truck drivers
  • Trains, complies and enforces company safety policies and procedures and actively participates as a member of the Safety Committee
  • Maintains qualification as first-responder for CPR & First Aid in the facility
  • Complies, and ensures the compliance of others, with all lockout/tagout procedures
  • Conducts monthly production meetings in a formal training setting
  • Assists maintenance technicians, as needed, to keep line up and running throughout the shift
  • Ensures daily housekeeping is done in order to provide a safe work environment
  • Responsible for plant operations in the absence of the Operations Manager / Plant Manager
  • Completes employee performance evaluations, in a timely manner, as required
  • Gathers data for production bonuses, incentive outlines, approves timesheets
  • Ensures that all maintenance personnel uses required PPE protective equipment as required which includes, but is not limited to, proper ear, eye, hand and face protection.
  • Wear proper PPE protective equipment at all times
  • Maintains regular and predictable attendance

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS

Required Education and Experience

One year certificate from college or technical school; or three to six months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Computer Skills

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Internet software; Spreadsheet software and Word Processing software.
