WAGE RANGE: 15.00 - 16.00 DOE
POSITION TYPE: Seasonal, MUST BE 18 or OLDER
SUPERVISORY: No SUPERVISED BY: Lift Operations Supervisors & Manager
POSITION SUMMARY: Assists guests on and off chairlifts; safety is the primary concern. This position requires a high level of guest interaction.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTONS: Focus is on positive interaction with our guests, safe operation of chairlift equipment and the safety of the guests while they are utilizing our lift system. Maintain lift ramp and snow removal. At times you may be required to physically lift/assist children and handicapped skiers onto chairlifts. (Trained Mechanics perform Maintenance if mechanical problems develop). Position requires maintaining radio coordination with several other Mountain operations departments throughout the day. You will be required to assist in ticket validations throughout the day.
OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES: High guest contact requires extensive knowledge of Schweitzer Mountain Resort facilities and events and a full understanding of Schweitzer's guest service standards. Responsibilities are listed as guidelines and the position is not necessarily limited to these items.
JOB SPECIFICATIONS:
SKILLS: Physical fitness, good communication skills required; guest service; team spirit attitude.
EDUCATION: English reading, writing and communication skills; basic math skills.
EXPERIENCE: Skiing or snowboarding background helpful but not required.
LICENSE NEEDED: None
PHYSICAL DEMANDS: This is a combined sitting and standing/walking position for up to 2-4 hours each. You may lift up to 100 lbs. You will be required to lift/assist children or handicapped skiers onto lift. You will shovel and rake/push snow. Workers will bend, squat, kneel, climb, twist, and reach above shoulder level frequently. You will use hands for grasping and pushing/pulling at a 25 lb. to 30 lb. rate. Worksite is 20% inside and 80% outside. Exposed to all temperatures and all moisture ranges. Hazards are mechanical, electrical, burns, and ice/snow. Uniforms are supplied. Sensory skills of vision, hearing, touch, smell, and speech are needed.
MACHINES OR TOOLS OPERATED: Hand tools, shovels, brooms, Pulaski, rakes, drills, snow blower, chairlifts.
JUDGEMENT/MENTAL COMPLEXITY: Moderate to proficient; workers are trained to shut down machinery and ask for decisions.
