JOB TITLE / DEPARTMENT: Public Safety Officer/Schweitzer Public Safety
SUPERVISORY: No SUPERVISED BY: Public Safety Manager
POSITION SUMMARY: Security and guest service for Schweitzer and contract facilities.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTONS: Maintains security for Schweitzer property. Make rounds of buildings and property, both on foot and in company vehicles. Fill out reports. Responsible for road patrol (working with accidents/guest assistance); pull out vehicles with chain, winch, or rope or push vehicles out by hand. May shuttle guests between Schweitzer properties or minor injuries into town. Carries cellular phone and two-way radio; will phone or radio call for assistance if necessary; will walk through buildings; may be asked to do bouncer duty at functions. Fills out log sheet on activities of shift. May also be asked to help locate missing hikers and bikers during summer session. May be asked to transport locked deposit bags from one location on mountain to another. May be asked to work night shifts. Other duties as assigned by Director of Public Safety.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Can vary physical activity for comfort. Position requires a 4-hour sitting and 4-hour standing/walking ability; or combinations thereof and will lift up to 50 lbs occasionally up to 2 hours per shift. Will bend, squat, kneel and twist on an occasional basis; will climb and reach above shoulder level on a rare basis; will use hands for grasping, pushing/pulling, fine manipulation. Foot controls operated for company vehicles; all sensory skills needed. Work site is 50% inside and 50% outside; exposed to all temperature and moisture conditions. Hazards are mechanical and ice/snow; uniforms shirts and coat provided by the company. Gloves are recommended. Must supply your own footwear/ snow boots, pants, etc.
OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES: Must be willing to obtain extensive knowledge of Schweitzer facilities and events. Responsibilities are listed as guidelines, and the position is not necessarily limited to these items.
JOB SPECIFICATIONS:
SKILLS: Driving, minor mechanical expertise, guest service.
EDUCATION: English reading, writing, and communication; basic math.
EXPERIENCE: None required. Minimum age 21 years.
LICENSE NEEDED: Valid Drivers License insurable by Schweitzer, restrictions available upon request.
OTHER: Must successfully complete a criminal background investigation. Must complete basic 1st Aid and CPR
MACHINES OR TOOLS OPERATED: Company vehicles, jumper cables, car opening equipment, jacks, basic mechanical hand tools, towing equipment, radio, cell phone and security related duty gear.
