Job Posting for Clinical Engineering Technician II at SCL Health

You.

You bring your body, mind, heart and spirit to your work as a Clinical Engineering Technician II.

You know how to move fast. You know how to stay organized. You know how to have fun.

You’re equally comfortable with repairing, calibrating, and maintaining all basic clinical equipment technologies, devices, instruments, and systems.

You’re great at what you do, but you want to be part of something even greater. Because you believe that while individuals can be strong, the right team is invincible.

Us.

Good Samaritan Medical Center is part of SCL Health, a faith-based, nonprofit healthcare organization that focuses on person-centered care. At our 234-bed Level II Trauma Center, our mission is to bring health and hope to the poor, the vulnerable, our communities and each other. We’re especially proud of our people, who helped make us one of America’s 100 Best Hospitals according to Healthgrades.

Benefits are one of the ways we encourage health for you and your family. Our generous package includes medical, dental and vision coverage. But health is more than a well-working body: it encompasses body, mind and social well-being. To that end, we’ve launched a Healthy Living program to address your holistic health. Healthy Living includes financial incentives, digital tools, tobacco cessation, classes, counseling and paid time off. We also offer financial wellness tools and retirement planning.

We.

Together we’ll align mission and careers, values and workplace. We’ll encourage joy and take pride in our integrity.

We’ll laugh at each other’s jokes (even the bad ones). We’ll hello and high five. We’ll celebrate milestones and acknowledge the value of spirituality in healing.

We’re proud of what we know, which includes how much there is to learn.

Your day.

As a Clinical Engineering Tech II, you need to know how to:

  • Perform safety testing, performance testing, and preventive maintenance to meet NFPA, OSHA, and The Joint Commission compliance on medical equipment in assigned departments at the scheduled time intervals.
  • Document all repairs completed while performing maintenance inspections as well as the inspections on all SCL Health electronic medical equipment.
  • Perform electronic repairs, according to manufacturers’ specifications, in order to offer providers and other medical staff equipment that is 100% operational.
  • Replace defective components according to accepted practice to ensure minimal damage to components and printed circuit boards. Perform operational checkout and safety testing of all repaired equipment.
  • Complete documentation which includes all necessary parts, including part numbers, quantity, price, time, procedures, and equipment used to accomplish each service request.
  • Follow up on equipment recalls and interact with medical staff to reduce operator errors and reduce equipment malfunctions.
  • Respond immediately to emergency repairs, including after hours and weekends.
  • Communicate the nature of repair to the department supervisor as well as an estimate of the possible down-time. Inform personnel as to equipment status after completion of repairs.
  • Work closely with the customer’s department to ensure all equipment meets state and federal guidelines and repairs equipment that does not pass annual testing within the time requirements defined by the department.
  • Manage projects which may consist of coordinating and planning system installations and following up on equipment recalls.

Your experience.

We hire people, not resumes. But we also expect excellence, which is why we require:

  • Completion of a two (2) year approved Biomedical or Electronics program or equivalent factory training and experience, required
  • Documented completion of factory training on a variety of basic and complex pieces of imaging equipment, required
  • Minimum of two (2) years of experience with the repair and maintenance of medical equipment, required
  • Demonstrated experience with and understanding of all aspects of safety and special precautions relating to the servicing of moderately complex biomedical equipment systems, required

Your next move.

Now that you know more about being a Clinical Engineering Tech II on our team we hope you’ll join us. At SCL Health you’ll reaffirm every day how much you love this work, and why you were called to it in the first place.
