The VP of Engineering will spearhead the Engineering division at SCOUT Space, playing a pivotal role in executing our ambitious vision for technical solutions. Collaborating closely with the executive team, this leader will craft and implement strategic initiatives and own the execution of technical delivery across the company’s engineering teams.
Responsibilities
- Shape the product and technical roadmap for the company, delineating technology goals and the building blocks necessary for achieving them.
- Lead, mentor, and manage a diverse team of engineers and technicians, nurturing a culture of collaboration and peak performance.
- Oversee intricate satellite payload and software development programs, ensuring adherence to rigorous internal protocols and space regulatory standards.
- Engage directly with clients during engineering evaluations, regulatory checks, and business expansion endeavors.
- Partner cross-functionally to curate customer focused bid proposals and presentations.
- Utilize market intelligence and competitive analysis to ideate technical solutions, validating them through exhaustive design review processes.
- Define and monitor KPIs, ensuring alignment with timelines, budgetary constraints, and quality benchmarks. Use discernment to reconcile technical and financial metrics.
- Oversee resource planning, allocation, and recruitment strategies based on feedback from Engineering Managers and Directors.
- Maintain technical supervision across engineering factions, optimizing productivity and fostering the professional growth of team members.
- Instill a proactive approach and accountability within teams, emphasizing the importance of swift execution and goal realization.
- Champion process refinement, integrating feedback, and leveraging insights for organizational growth and continual betterment.
- Serve as a catalyst for change, exemplifying a culture of accountability, teamwork, and urgency.
Requirements
- Bachelor of Science degree in Aerospace Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field. A Master’s or higher qualification is preferred.
- 15 years of direct experience in satellite payload or space systems engineering.
- Proven expertise in developing intricate space systems and transitioning them to production.
- Familiarity with optical, infrared, and other remote sensing technologies suitable for space applications.
- Outstanding communication and leadership acumen. The ideal individual thrives in team-building and in instilling a collaborative spirit.
- Proficiency in business management, including budgeting, forecasting, and understanding overarching business objectives.
- Exceptional personal leadership traits, adeptness in change management, and a knack for influential cross-functional collaboration.
- Ability to secure or current and active TS/SCI personal security clearance.
- Must have the ability to obtain and maintain access to Special Programs (SAP).
