KRIS, the E.W. Scripps NBC Station in Corpus Christi, Texas is searching for Sports Anchor to join our team. The Sports Anchor is responsible for researching, writing, capturing visual content, and editing stories for multiple platforms. This may include investigative stories, depth components, real-time sports, and special projects. WHAT YOU'LL DO: Receives assignment or evaluates sports leads and news tips to develop story ideas. Gathers and verifies factual information for sports stories through interviews, observation and research. Generates creative sports story ideas daily based on the station’s brand and strategic plan. Works closely with newsroom personnel to create, develop and enhance sports stories on air and online. Uses creativity to brainstorm and execute unique ways to visualize the best sports stories in the market. Writes, edits and organizes stories for live reports, taped interviews or online. Works cooperatively with photographer on assignment when one is assigned. Shoots and edits compelling video. Writes and posts sports stories on multimedia platforms, including social media and the station’s website. WHAT YOU'LL NEED: Bachelors degree in broadcast journalism or related degree. 3-years experience. WHAT YOU'LL BRING: Knowledge and demonstration of Sports industry Knowledge and demonstration of editorial judgment, journalistic ethics and libel laws Requirements. Must have excellent communication skills and be able to work well with others. Must demonstrate openness and capacity to seek new opportunities and adopt new ways of doing things. Must be self-motivated and detail oriented. Ability to work well under tight deadlines, prioritize and multi-task, Knowledge and demonstration of creativity, editorial judgment, journalistic ethics, and libel law. Computer literate, including newsroom computer systems. Videography, lighting and non-linear editing experience. Proficient in non-linear editing systems, such as Final Cut Pro X. Strong broadcast and AP style writing skills. Proficient at posting content to various digital platforms. Valid driver's license and good driving record required. In addition, proof of insurance and liability coverage may be required.
