Job descriptions:
The Chief Electrician is responsible for overseeing and managing all electrical systems within a facility. This role requires a strong technical background and experience in electrical maintenance and repair.
Key Responsibilities:
- Electrical Maintenance: Perform maintenance and repair of electrical systems, equipment, fixtures, and security/fire alarm systems.
- Supervision: Monitor and inspect the work of service contractors and O&M employees.
- Technical Skills: Interpret blueprints, diagrams, and schematics, and plan work sequences.
- Installation: Install and maintain electrical wiring, devices, machinery, and equipment.
- Troubleshooting: Diagnose and repair electrical faults and malfunctions.
- Preventive Maintenance: Develop and implement preventive maintenance schedules to minimize equipment failures.
- Safety: Ensure compliance with safety regulations and standards.
- Leadership: Provide leadership and training to O&M personnel.
- Inspection: Inspect work performed by outside contractors to ensure compliance with codes and regulations.
Requirements:
- Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience at the Chief Electrician level in an institutional facility of at least 1,000,000 sq.ft.
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent.
- Technical Skills: Ability to interpret blueprints, diagrams, and schematics, and perform electrical installations and repairs.
- Safety: Knowledge of safety regulations and standards.
- Leadership: Ability to lead and manage a team of maintenance professionals.
- Communication: Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Software: Proficiency in NCMMS, spreadsheet, and word processing software.
