Test Captain and Technician

WHAT YOU’LL DO

As our Test Captain & Technician, you’ll facilitate effective demonstration and testing of Seakeeper systems in support of our Gyro Product Engineering department. You’ll be the go-to for our internal engineering and new product development teams to do whatever needs to be done to create an effective test environment that allows us to continue pushing boundaries and create products that make the impossible possible! You’ll make an immediate contribution to the development of our unorthodox products by:

• Safely navigating and operating our test boats during product development testing
• Maintaining vessels, trucks, and trailers including scheduling and managing service as well as cleaning the vessel before and after all testing
• Making structural and mechanical modifications to boats & test equipment quickly and proficiently to allow for effective demonstration and testing
• Supporting R&D facility maintenance
• Assisting the Engineering Support Team with testing maintenance & troubleshooting

WHAT YOU NEED TO SUCCEED

MUST-HAVES

• 5-10 years of active experience in the marine industry including:

• • Independently running and transporting boats
  • Maintaining and cleaning boats
  • Mechanical aptitude and be comfortable wiring and being hands-on with maintenance
  • A valid OUPV Captains License (25-Ton or Higher)

• Thrive in a collaborative team environment, but also effective working independently
• Eager to learn and gain experience and a passion for being on the water
• Demonstrate good judgment and be of unquestionable integrity
• Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information with discretion
• Be professional, responsive, resourceful, and flexible
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Superior time management, multitasking, organizational, and prioritization skills

NICE-TO-HAVES

• Fiberglass and gel coat repair experience
• Familiarity with South Jersey waterways
• Familiarity with boat side electrical wiring

• Our ideal candidate will be located within a commutable distance to our Mystic Islands, NJ R&D facility, where you will spend most of your time
• You will be expected to travel ~50% of the time to our Leesport, PA facility
  

YOUR TEAM

Our Boat Captain is nestled within our Gyro Product Engineering department. It is a small, but mighty team that covers a lot of ground. It is a flat team, managing projects through an Agile workflow that allows maximum exposure to a variety of projects and systems within the group. The team is comprised of engineers with varying backgrounds and specialties including hydraulic, electrical, mechanical, software, controls, and more with a heavy emphasis on collaboration. You’ll be able to be involved in a myriad of projects and participate in program management instead of only owning a small defined piece of the process.
