Title: Volunteer Programs Coordinator
Type: Part-time (approximately 20 hrs/wk)
Status: Non-exempt
Compensation: From $14.50/hr., part-time benefit eligible
Schedule: 8:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m., Tuesday - Friday
Immediate Supervisor: Executive Director
Job Summary: Coordinate SECOM Volunteer programming; recruitment; background checks; orientation; weekly/monthly scheduling; recognition and retention efforts; coordinate annual Pride for Parents and Community Connections programs; assist in SECOM Pantry as needed.
Duties and Responsibilities:
A. Volunteer Coordination (50% - 10 hrs/wk)
1. Support existing volunteers and maintain records
2. Coordinate volunteer recruitment, application process and background checks
3. Provide volunteer orientation and training
4. Maintain volunteer calendar/schedule
5. Coordinate volunteer appreciation activities
6. Work with program staff to meet volunteer needs/gaps
7. Coordinate Volunteer events
a. SECOM specific
b. United Way Day of Caring
c. Martin Luther King Jr. Day/MLK Day
B. Program Coordination (30% - 6 hrs/wk)
a. Manage annual Pride for Parents program and volunteers
b. Provide administrative support to Neighbors leading and participating in Community Connections program
C. Other Duties (20% - 4 hrs/wk)
a. Volunteer and Programs record management and reporting
b. Assist in the Food Pantry as needed
c. Serve as point person in Pantry in the absence of the Pantry Manager
Qualifications:
A. Verbal fluency in both English and Spanish (required); written (preferred)
B. Ability to guide and work with a persons of diverse ages, races, cultures and economic status
C. Competent in Microsoft Word applications (required); Google apps (preferred)
D. Strong organizational and time management skills
E. Professionalism in working with staff, volunteers and Neighbors
F. Ability to maintain confidentiality and protect confidential information
G. Positive, self-starting team player who seeks to make an impact
H. Great communication skills
I. Supportive of SECOM’s Commitment to Diversity
J. Valid driver’s license
Education and Experience:
A. High School diploma (required); Associates degree or higher (preferred)
B. Experience working or volunteering in a food pantry or nonprofit organization
Primary Benefits: paid vacation, sick leave & personal leave, holiday pay. Position not eligible for group health or dental insurance.
