DIMENSIONS: This is Accounting work which is responsible for the financial record keeping for the SECU Foundation or an external credit union.
The position would generally involve the preparation of reconciliations completed by Financial Analysts.
The position also involves the interpretation of data and the use of judgment
based on understanding Generally Accepted Accounting Principles.
DUTIES: Review, maintain and reconcile assigned general ledger accounts and prepare adjusting journal entries to properly reflect ledger data.
Responsible for review and preparation of monthly financial statements and reports for SECU Foundation or other Credit Unions.
Assist other departments in accurately reporting information to assigned accounts and with report requests as needed.
Responsible for preparing and filing various governmental/ regulatory reports in accordance with regulations, including a variety of quarterly reports to state and federal regulators, authorities and agencies. Assist with completion of annual reports.
Maintain accurate and timely cash settlements between SECU and the credit unions for which it provides services.
Prepare client packages for external auditors and regulators and provide assistance to external auditors and regulators during audits and exams.
Performs other related duties as required.
REQUIREMENTS: Must have four year degree (preferably in Accounting, Finance, or Business). In addition, CPAs or CPA candidates will be given preference.
Must have an advanced understanding of Microsoft Office, including Word and Excel. Familiarity with Access is a plus, but not required.
Prefer 5-10 years of accounting experience, minimum of 2 years required.
Substantial knowledge of Accounting principles and practices.
Must be able to speak English fluently.
Must be able to cooperate and collaborate with co-workers.
Must be cordial in all interactions with members and co-workers.
Must adhere to the work schedule and attendance policy established by manager.
Must complete the Credit Union’s Basic Module Program requirements within 24 months of hire date as a condition of employment.

Must be able to comprehend and carry out verbal and written instructions.
Job requires a substantial amount of sitting.

Use hands and fingers to press telephone key pad and lift telephone receiver.
Must be able to comprehend phone calls.
Must be able to lift 5 pounds.
