Purpose
To assist in the daily operations of the department by supporting SECU branch and operations personnel seeking answers to questions about SECU policies and procedures regarding financial exploitation, abuse and neglect, and all Financial Exploitation Prevention subject matter. Serves as a resource to department employees needing assistance with complex member situations. Collaborates with statewide trust representative network regarding trust and estate planning as a preventative tool. Makes reports to law enforcement and Adult Protective Services (APS) ensuring full compliance with all State and Federal regulations. Presents Financial Exploitation Prevention training workshops across the state. Assists with the development of productive relationships with local Adult Protective Services personnel, law enforcement officers, and other professionals who work in related professional services.
Dimensions
Support the ongoing development and delivery of credit union policies and procedures preventing and responding to financial exploitation, abuse and neglect. Considerable contact with members, branch and operations employees, law enforcement and social workers. Will focus on preventing financial exploitation through proper estate planning and responding to financial exploitation by making reports to the proper authorities. Will collaborate with other areas within Financial Advisory Services, Legal Services, Risk Management, Automated Payment Fraud, Card Services, etc. to implement the best course of action for each member situation. Represents the department at internal meetings. Knowledge in all areas of Trust Services and Financial Advisory Services is required.
Duties
Support branch, FAS Retail Delivery and Contact Center staff with member situations involving financial exploitation, abuse and neglect.
Discuss complex member situations with branch and operations personnel.
Answer and log phone and email requests from branch and operations personnel seeking assistance with complex products such as notary services, signature guarantee, powers of attorney, guardianships, rep payees, federal fiduciaries, social security benefits, Medicaid issues, payable on death, NCUA insurance, UTMA, personal agency, wills, trusts, estates, estate settlement, financial and estate planning.
Respond to branch and operations employee concerns promptly and courteously with the intent to reconcile all problems.
Promote policies and services set by the Board of Directors.
Keep abreast of current policies, issues, Federal and State regulations.
Evaluate situations and make critical decisions.
Act in a professional manner on and off the job and be courteous and discreet in the performance of duties and hold information in strict confidence.
Support branch employees in serving members.
Demonstrate proficiency in all aspects of Fiduciary Support subject matter.
Demonstrate proficiency in all aspects of SECU’s efforts to prevent and respond to financial exploitation, abuse and neglect, including reporting to law enforcement and APS.
Demonstrate a thorough understanding of credit union products and services.
Present subject matter to internal and external audiences as needed.
Participate in internal and external meetings as directed, reporting results to management.
Requirements
Experience –
Must have experience with the required Trust Services subject areas.
SECU experience preferred, ideally in a position involving direct branch or member interaction.
Education –
Must have four-year degree.
Must be knowledgeable and promote all areas of Trust and Estate Planning Services.
Must have proficient working knowledge of Microsoft Access, Excel, and Word.
Have knowledge of Credit Union management policies as well as branch and operations policies and procedures.

Expectations –
Job requires utmost discretion and ability to handle confidential information in a professional manner.
Must represent Trust Services appropriately when needed for training, meetings, onsite support, etc.
Must have a high degree of skill in verbal and written communication.
Must have a solid understanding of the Credit Union’s purposes, ideas and objectives.
Must be well organized, resourceful and have the ability to prioritize.
Must be highly motivated, independent, dependable, and professional.
Must maintain composure, be calm under pressure and display courteous and helpful attitude in handling members and individuals both within and outside the Credit Union.
Must possess positive attitude and seek to foster strong working relationships between branch and operations personnel.
Must be able to work a flexible schedule when appropriate, including travel throughout North Carolina during business hours.
Must be able to speak English fluently.
Must be able to cooperate and collaborate with co-workers.
Must be cordial in all interactions with others.
Must adhere to the work schedule and attendance policy established by management.
Job Environment
Office setting with physical proximity to other employees.
Some background noise from other employees, copy machine and telephone.
Remote work may be required.
Travel throughout North Carolina via personal vehicle when needed.
Physical Demands
Must be able to comprehend and carry out verbal and written instructions.
Job requires substantial amount of sitting.
Use hands and fingers to press keys on a computer keyboard to enter or retrieve information.
Use hands and fingers to press telephone keypad and lift telephone receiver.
Must be able to comprehend phone calls.
Must be able to lift 5 pounds.
