What are the responsibilities and job description for the Commercial Construction Estimator position at Seidel Construction LLC?
Job Purpose: Assist in developing accurate, timely and competitive estimates for commercial, institutional, and industrial projects both public and private thru the bidding process. Must be a detail-oriented team player with the ability to manage multiple tasks, produce quality work, consistently meet deadlines in alignment with our passion, niche and core values..
Responsibilities:
- Reviews project drawings and technical specifications to determine scope of construction work to bid. Organizes work elements and calculates quantities of work. Prepares cost estimates for profitable cost proposals.
- Assist in establishing a solid list of vendors, subcontractors, architects and clients by being responsive and managing business relationships.
- Assist Estimating and Executive team in meeting revenue goals with profitable margins.
· Responsible for All Tasks Related to the Invitations to Bid Process.
o Please follow the following process and timeline for ITBs:
§ Create ITB notes to include in Building Connected software ITB. Save notes to bid folder.
§ Send ITB via Building Connected.
§ Call each subcontractor no later than 3 days after the ITB is sent to ensure receipt, inform of bid due date and to answer any questions.
§ 3-4 days prior to bid due date, follow up again via phone to confirm bid intentions.
§ All bids must be received no later than 2 days prior to bid due date.
· Addendums/Supplementary Information – Review of addendum and supplementary information, identify key changes within addendum, identify and contact subcontractors affected. Send addendum via Building Connected as well as individual email to those subcontractors affected.
· Tracking Subcontractors Per Division, Per Project via Building Connected Software.
· Review of Bids to Ensure Complete Scope - Identify and document on the scope sheets inclusions/exclusions to eliminate scope gaps. Contact subcontractors if there are any issues found and communicate any issues.
· Preliminary Materials Take-Offs as Assigned.
· Preliminary Estimating Worksheet – Push/Create projects in estimating software, pre-estimate cost codes for permitting and design fees and others as requested.
· Assist Pre-construction coordinator with Subcontractor Prequalification. Send prequalification packets to new potential subcontractors, follow up to ensure process is completed.
· Receiving and Answering Phone Calls for Estimating Department. Messages must be checked daily and all messages answered within 24 hours.
· Bid Day Requirements – Field all phone calls, receive and distribute incoming bids/proposals, track bids in electronic format and store on server.
· Server Maintenance. Use Archive folder for bids not accepted, keep all financials and proposals uniformly organized, plans must also be in an organized format.
· Pre-construction Leader/Chief Estimator will set estimating timelines for hard bid and budget due dates.
· Be able to answer project questions in the absence of the Chief Estimator.
· Present bid tab information to requesting subcontractors.

Pay: $45,000.00 - $70,000.00 per year
