Rehabilitation Counselor

• Recruit individuals with severe disabilities to work for SEKRI. Document severe disabilities and accommodations provided per Ability One requirements.
• Interviews and evaluates severely disabled applicants, making recommendations to plant managers.
• Works with production staff to identify and/or modify job responsibilities to accommodate those w/ disability.
• Obtain written reports signed by licensed physician, psychiatrist, or qualified psychologist, reflecting nature and extent of disability.
• Complete initial competitive employment statement for all disabled direct labor employees within 30 days of hire date.
• Maintain rehabilitation files for each severely disabled direct labor employee per company policy and procedures.
• Develop short/long term career development plans with employees
• Prepare safety action plans for associate and work w/ plant managers and supervisors on implementation
• Maintain rehabilitation services data in computer and manual files.
• Assist employees w/ personal adjustment, acceptable work environment behavior, goal setting and problem solving.
• Track and support associates enrolled in substance abuse counseling to maintain sobriety and SEKRI drug free workplace.
• Assist disabled employees in obtaining medical and social services during training and adjustment period.
