Job Description
Select’s Assistant Safety Manager will perform HSSE and support DOT activities in oil and gas construction, pipeline, trucking and rig site operations to evaluate and control hazards. Ensure compliance with all Local, State, Federal regulations including OSHA, EPA, and support DOT requirements along with client expectations. Develop, recognize and provide program support to control or eliminate hazards in the workplace arising from physical, chemical or environmental exposures which may result in injury or illness. This is a mid-level position that has direct reports or manager responsibilities.
The essential job functions include, but are not limited to
- Develop and facilitate information for weekly and monthly training/meeting for Employees, Supervisors & Managers on issues related to health, safety, environmental and DOT compliance, bilingual information where possible.
- Assist in implementation of SES HSE Management System, Employee Supervisor & Managers development of culture and communication
- Check6
- Accident Prevention Teams - Field and Management Participation
- Management Site Audits across Service Lines - Yard and Field
- Incident Investigation Follow up with Medium and High Category Incidents
- Standardize HSSE Training Programs for Permian
- Drive a Zero Incident Culture & accountability for all employees
- Assist HSSE Coordinators with performing investigations including root cause analysis of all significant HSSE incidents.
- Assist with environmental regulatory affairs & federal motor carrier requirements
- Review safety suggestions / ideas or investigation results to completion
- Attend and assist supervisors with toolbox meetings as well as development of first line supervisors
- Conduct / Coordinate training supports for
- New Hire Safety Orientation
- Coordinate Core Compliance Training - H2S/CPR/FA/BBP/AED and other field training
- Heavy Equipment Safety Aspects for Certification or Qualified Operators
- Monitor and maintain emergency action plan for Permian
- Evaluate Industrial Hygiene Issues
- Noise
- Respiratory Protection
- Occupational Health Issues
- Assist DOT with spot checks, pre/post inspections, etc.

Requirements
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required:
- Bachelor’s degree is preferred. Degree in Engineering, Occupational Safety & Health, or equivalent education and experience.
- Must possess valid driver’s license and be eligible to drive a company vehicle according to Select’s insurance guidelines
- 3 -5 years of progressive HSE experience, to include the administration of multiple HSE programs.
- Broad-based knowledge of OSHA and environmental regulations, including OSHA certification 500,510, 511.
- Has leadership and management experience.
- Proficient in Microsoft programs including Excel and Word.
- Possess thorough knowledge and understanding of HSSE/OSHA standards.
- Excellent oral and verbal communication skills/bilingual a plus.
- Public speaking experience a plus.
- Analytical and problem-solving skills required.
- Ability to lead and influence others.
