Facilities Manager
Senior Friendship Centers is looking for an experienced Facilities Manager to join our team. The Facilities Manager will be responsible for the maintenance and related environmental services for Senior Friendship Centers buildings and grounds in Sarasota County. This involves various duties from mowing, yard maintenance, moving office furniture, room set up for events, painting, and other miscellaneous facility maintenance.
The successful candidate will be a self-starter who enjoys working outside and is experienced working with lawn equipment, hand tools, and other maintenance equipment. Must be willing to travel regularly to both Sarasota and Venice campuses as needed. The mission of the Senior Friendship Centers is to build vibrant communities by advancing wellness, connection, and enrichment throughout the journey of aging. Older adults throughout Sarasota, DeSoto, Charlotte and Lee counties rely on the Senior Friendship Centers for help with nutrition, adult day services, social engagement, education, help in times of crisis, and so much more.

Essential Functions:
Operational
- Operate all equipment/tools necessary for the care of lawns and shrubs. Clean, maintain, and adjust equipment.
- Provide routine and emergency plumbing, electrical, and HVAC services, and/or assists in the coordination of these services.
- Maintain campus grounds appearance and cleanliness: including parking lot, driveways, sidewalks, signage, lighting, lawn, shrubs, pruning, fertilizing, weeding, mulching, power washing, painting, and window care.
- Provide room set up and break down for events and classes.
- Move furniture and equipment as requested.
- Assist staff in records retention on-site and off-site.
- Upkeep the painted interior and exterior of all buildings.
- Maintain cleanliness and appearance of floors, restrooms, and common areas.
- Provide routine and emergency janitorial/maintenance services for Senior Friendship Centers and CenterPlace Health. Orders and procures janitorial supplies as needed.
- Coordinate contracted building and grounds maintenance and trade services, informing Facilities Director of work progress, performance, and problems.
- Maintain irrigation system
- Ensure proper operation and maintenance of burglar and fire alarm systems. Respond to security calls and off-hour alarm notifications when required.
- Perform special assignments as assigned
- Provide guidance and support to all departments.
- Conduct quarterly Safety Committee meetings for the Sarasota campus.
- Keeps track of all new products brought to Senior Friendship Centers and obtains a copy of the accompanying MSDS sheets as required by OSHA. Keeps Master Lists current.
- Assist at other Senior Friendship Center facilities when necessary.
- Report any incident of abuse or neglect as mandated by the state guidelines.
Organizational
- Must comply with all Senior Friendship Centers personnel policies.
- Must protect the safety and health of the staff, volunteers, patients, and others. Must observe and follow the provision of the Senior Friendship Center accident prevention, safety and reporting of injury, accident and incident policies as prescribed in the Employee Handbook and Department Safety Rules.

- Must be able to operate and maintain lawn tractors, blowers, trimmers, golf cart, small hand tools, carpet/tile cleaning equipment, and other maintenance equipment.
- Prolonged periods standing, sitting, and moving around the campuses.
- Must be able to lift 40 pounds without assistance.
- Must be able to independently access various departments of a given location.

Education, Experience, Licenses, and Certifications:
- Requires High School Diploma, or any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides requisite knowledge, ability and skills to perform the essential functions of the job.
- Requires two (2) years of general buildings and grounds maintenance and environmental services experience, or equivalent in education, training and experience.
- Basic computer skills including the use of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, and Outlook) is required.
Physical Demands:
- Must be able to operate and maintain lawn tractors, blowers, trimmers, golf cart, small hand tools, carpet/tile cleaning equipment, and other maintenance equipment.

Travel:
- Use of personal car for travel to any SFC office location to provide on-site support will be required.
- A valid Florida Driver’s License and proof of insurance for business related travel are required.
Additional eligibility requirements:
- Satisfactory clearance of a fingerprint based, level II background screening and pre-employment substance abuse testing is required.
- Must be authorized to work in the United States.
