JOB SUMMARY:
Set up and operate various CNC lathes, milling machines, grinders, and manual basic machine shop equipment to produce precision parts involving unusual set-ups with unusually close tolerances and critical interrelated dimensions.
JOB FUNCTIONS:
Essential Elements:
- Achieve and maintain appropriate Operator Authorization(s) as required.
- Program/edit programs, operate and set up fixture components for jobs that require CNC machining and manual machines
- Set machine origins in accordance with the set-up instructions
- Work to machine dimensions and maintain close tolerances and correlated dimensions with a high demand for squareness, concentricity, finish, and parallelism
- Set and load all tools in conjunction with set-up instructions to complete assigned jobs
- Conduct regular maintenance and troubleshooting on CNC machines, ensuring they operate smoothly and efficiently
- Measured and examined completed parts to verify conformance to specifications using precision tools like micrometers and calipers
- Work from basic blueprints, material requests, methods sheets, or other written work instructions.
- Use a variety of precision measuring instruments, inspect in-process or finished parts and feature characteristics as well as manufacturing methods to blueprint specifications.
- Collaborate with Engineering team members for custom jobs or to refine manufacturing processes
- Train other Machinists as needed on job related assignments.
- Basic computer knowledge to perform labor transactions, and other required functions.
3-5 years' experience setting up and operating CNC milling and/or turning machines.
