POSITION: Home Care Aide
General description: Under the supervision of the Director of In-Home Services, the Home Care Aide performs specific household duties in the homes of seniors as requested by Senior Resources clients and approved by the Director of In-Home Services.
Additional Information:
This is a part-time (up to 40 hours), hourly, regular, non-exempt position. SRI compensation schedule 12. Reports to Director of In-Home Services.
Specific Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Performs routine household maintenance tasks including general cleaning such as sweeping, mopping, dusting, changing linens, kitchen and appliances, light laundry.
2. Assists in grocery shopping and errands related to health and home needs, prepares and serves light meals, provides companionship as well as other approved tasks.
3. Performs, with training and approval, personal care tasks such as bathing, dressing, hair care, toilet care, grooming, feeding, skin care, mobility etc.
4. Provides for client’s safety, privacy, and dignity.
5. Maintains a clean, healthy, and safe environment while performing tasks.
6. Demonstrates techniques which increase client’s independence.
7. Reports observed changes in clients to caregiver and/or supervisor, seeking guidance from supervisor whenever in doubt concerning client’s care.
8. Prepares and submits all required reports in a timely manner, recording neatly and accurately all tasks performed in the care of clients.
9. Reports at assigned times and locations, notifying staff and client of anticipated tardiness or missed work at least 24 hours in advance, except for unforeseen emergencies.
10. Participates in mandatory training classes and makes known needs for additional training.
11. Provide assistance to the Director of In-Home Services as requested.
12. Other duties and tasks as required by the Director of In-Home Services, or as required to fulfill the mission of the organization.
Qualifications:
High School diploma or equivalent, required. Prior experience in providing home care services and basic understanding dementia-related behaviors, preferred. Demonstrated skills in sound judgement, compassion, trustworthiness, dependability, and working with diverse populations, required. Must pass a TB test or chest X-ray, background check, and pre-employment drug screening. Valid driver’s license, reliable transportation, and communication means. Must be able to lift, bend and carry up to 25 lbs for 100 feet.
