Responsibilities: As a Personal Helper for the Elderly, your primary responsibilities will include:
- Companionship & Promoting Independence: Provide friendly companionship through engaging conversations, shared activities, and a genuine presence to alleviate feelings of loneliness or isolation. Also, encourage and support seniors in maintaining their independence, respecting their preferences and abilities.
- Emotional Support: Offer empathetic and understanding support, lending a listening ear to seniors who may benefit from sharing their thoughts and experiences.
- Activity Planning: Collaborate with seniors to plan and participate in activities that align with their interests, promoting mental and emotional well-being.
- Assistance with Daily Living: Provide non-medical assistance with activities of daily living, such as light housekeeping, meal preparation, and organization.
- Transportation: Assist with transportation to appointments, social events, and errands, ensuring seniors remain connected to their community.
- Medication Reminders: Provide gentle reminders for medications, helping seniors adhere to their prescribed schedules.
Minimum Requirements:
- Ability to pass a background check and the completion of reference checks.
- Older adult with 45 years of life experience
- Valid driver's license and reliable insured motor vehicle
- 6 - 8 hours (minimum) weekly availability
- Personal cell phone
- Private email account and ability to send/receive emails
- Conversational English fluency
- Live centrally in our Greater Boston/Metrowest service area with accessibility to multiple client locations such as: Arlington, Boston, Brighton, Brookline, Cambridge, Dedham, Framingham, Hudson, Jamaica Plain, Lexington, Medford, Needham, Natick Newton, Sudbury, Waltham, Watertown, Wayland, Weston
- Genuine enthusiasm for assisting others, particularly fellow seniors.
- Exceptional interpersonal and communication abilities.
- Empathy and understanding of the distinct requirements of elderly individuals.
- Capacity to uphold a positive and patient demeanor in difficult circumstances.
- Dependable and ethical, with a dedication to preserving confidentiality.
