What are the responsibilities and job description for the STV Cell Technician position at Sentry Equipment Corp.?

Collaborate with cell members to own the process of all Configure to Order STV jobs. Plan, lead and perform all manufacturing processes to complete finished products that are part of the work cell. Responsible for streamlining these orders to improve both the employee and customer experiences.


ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES (Minimum Requirements):

Manufacturing Processes:

  • Perform a variety of mechanical assembly operations to assemble all products manufactured in the STV work cell. Products are standardized and/or methods prescribed. Use a wide variety of assembly and test fixtures, hand and power tools; recognizes and diagnoses defective parts; performs unit testing and can troubleshoot problem units.

  • Ability to perform manual TIG welding operations for touch-ups and scrap recovery. Use scales, tape measure, templates, and gauges; must be familiar with weld symbols.

  • Set-up, adjust and operate machinery and equipment as required by the work cell including, but not limited to, manual lathes, CNC machinery, circumferential welder, hydro testing rigs and laser marking machine. Select work holding devices, tooling, and operation sequence within limits of well-established experience on standardized products.

  • Maintain accurate inventories of all parts used in each phase of production, including finished goods.

  • Inspect final product, audit and test. Ability to package finished product as needed to provide backup for the Shipper.

  • Observe company safety rules. During production hours, use personal protective equipment as needed. Involves heavy lifting up to 50 pounds. Operate forklift and lifting devices for heavier items.

Cell Operations:

  • Create and maintain procedures and guidelines for all cell processes and tasks.

  • Cross train to build a strong self-directed work cell capable of providing excellent coverage for planned and unplanned absences. Coach and train other employee owners as backup cell members.

  • Identify and implement continuous improvement activities to reduce MCT (Manufacturing Critical-path Time), which includes reducing cost while improving quality and on-time delivery.

  • Compile and post data related to QRM (Quick Response Manufacturing) metrics. On a monthly basis report to QRM Steering Committee.

Perform other work as supervisor may require.

JOB SPECIFICATIONS:

  1. Education: High school education or equivalent experience.

  1. Experience: At least 2 years of manufacturing experience with basic knowledge of mechanical assembly, welding and machine operation.

  1. Skills, Knowledge & Other Requirements:

  1. Strong mechanical aptitude.

  1. Basic computer skills with Microsoft Office and ERP program.

  1. Understanding of QRM (Quick Response Manufacturing) principles.

  1. Knowledge of design, layout, mechanical principles and product operation.

  1. Detail oriented; attention to detail; accuracy.

  1. Ability to bend, reach, squat, and lift up to 50 pounds.

  1. Good spatial orientation, eye-hand coordination and eyesight.

  1. Ability to read blueprints, use various measuring devices, and follow Work Instructions.

  1. Promotes safe work environment and demonstrates safe work practices.

  1. Machine tool operation with fundamental knowledge of tooling and programming.

  1. Basic welding knowledge.

  1. Use of scale, tape measure, templates, and gauges.

  1. Skill with safe operation of hand and power tools.
