Title of Position: Shelter Director
Supervising Positions: Program Director
Qualifications:
- High school diploma
- Experience & knowledge of domestic violence, social justice issues, particularly gender violence, immigration and racial, class, and/or sexual orientation issues preferred.
- Experience providing counseling and advocacy with survivors of violence
- Excellent interpersonal and community-building skills
- Strong written and oral communication skills
- Must be able to work flexible hours (all shifts including weekends)
- Must have a valid Florida Driver’s license and willing to drive company van
- Strong computer skills with Microsoft Suites, Google, and Adobe Suites
- Must be able to attend Domestic Violence Core Competency Training for Certification
- Handle confidential information appropriately
- Work from an empowerment-based philosophy
Job Duties:
- Maintain client confidentiality at all times.
- Manage shelter staffing to provide victim services.
- Complete client intakes and maintains client files to meet agency standards.
- Enter client information into the agency data tracking system within seventy-two hours of intake or by the last date of the month whichever comes first.
- Ensure client forms needing signatures are signed and dated.
- Ensure that safety plans are completed and signed by every client seeking services.
- Ensure service plans are completed for all clients and assist with victim’s compensation applications.
- Ensure referrals made to clients are documented.
- Conduct individual client crisis counseling sessions.
- Assess and document all incoming hotline calls.
- Work within the county to identify victims of domestic violence.
- Review intakes, referrals, activities, and case notes on all new client services during the month of intake and on departure.
- Ensure the shelter facility is secure, clean, and in good repair for the comfort and safety of clients.
- Conduct performance reviews and evaluations of victim service staff within their first 90 days of employment and every year following.
- Monitor staff in the performance of providing victim’s services.
- Perform any other duties as necessary or assigned by Program Director and President/CEO
Salary commensurate with qualifications and experience
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $15.00 - $18.00 per hour

We follow CDC guidelines. All staff are required to wear masks in the shelter at all times and within 6 feet from others. All PPE is available to all staff and clients.
