What are the responsibilities and job description for the Personal Care Assistant position at Serenity Home Care?
Responsibilities:
- Provide personal care assistance to patients in their homes or healthcare facilities
- Assist with activities of daily living, including bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting
- Monitor and record vital signs, such as blood pressure and temperature
- Assist with mobility and transfers, including lifting and positioning patients
- Administer first aid as needed and report any changes in patient condition to the appropriate healthcare professionals
- Prepare meals and assist with feeding if necessary
- Respect and uphold resident rights and maintain patient confidentiality
- Provide emotional support and companionship to patients
- Assist with hospice care or end-of-life support if required
- Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to ensure the overall well-being of patients
Skills:
- Ability to lift and move heavy objects or patients safely and with proper body mechanics
- Proficient in taking vital signs accurately and recording them appropriately
- Knowledge of patient care techniques and best practices
- Familiarity with first aid procedures and protocols
- Experience in meal preparation according to dietary restrictions or preferences
- Understanding of resident rights and ability to advocate for patients' needs
- Compassionate and caring attitude towards patients of all ages and backgrounds
- Knowledge of hospice care principles and practices is a plus
- Familiarity with assisted living facilities is a plus
